Parliament - The Goose

Just imagine a monkey with a peanut machine

Its a dream come true lol

I'm making a Rhythm Box playlist, and so far I couldn't listen past the "Up For The Down Stroke" album to do it music

Excellent!

Those guys are the muthafukkin masters.

Kinda like P-Funk goes smoove. Turning out a midtempo groove while sacrificing none of their signature intensity.

Loved it.

Saw them live touring behind this album on a triple bill with Cream and Baby huey and the Babysitters. '67 or '68 maybe. Prolly '67 cuz they still had the processed do's and sharkskin suits but they seemed like they was trippin' that night.

One of my fave P cuts! Me thinks it's way more Funkadelic than Parliament but who cares what moniker it's under right. Lol. One of the last "psychedelic" tracks from the mob. Eddie leading the way of course. I also have that original version on a Parliaments early singles release. It's fun to listen to the originals and then the later reworking of certain songs.

Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I still don't know what the difference between a Parliament sound and a Funkadelic sound, was there a secret meeting I wasn't aware of? lol

Somebody told me that Funkadelic was more "rock" oriented whereas Parliament was more "funk" oriented, which I think is a borderline bullshit, I think both groups are two faces for the same coin, the reason why those two groups exist is because George Clinton was really feeling his oats back then and he wouldn't let contracts stand on the way from putting his creativity into practice.

I guess there was more "rock guitar" in Funkadelic's work while Parliament's relied on the heavy bass and rhythm guitar riffs. Then again when Parliament "reformed" in 1974, they were similar. Then again I don't know about it being TOO BIG of a difference but it is...slightly. lol

Yes. Funkadelic was basically more "rock" and guitar oriented. In theory and concept. And Parliament was more "RnB" oriented. With more emphasis on horns and vocal layering, harmoines etc. This was very evident on the early releases. Things became more covoluted and blurred later on. Especially by the time Funkadelic's Uncle Jam came out. And yes they were all basically the same mob recording most everything but c'mon, there is a huge difference in style and sound between Funkadelics's Alice in My Fantasies and say, Parliament's Mothership Connection. Lol. Just saying. cool
