Justin Timberlake's cover of "Got To Give It Up"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qbwl2otbxo

This amazes me. I love the original as one of my top ten jams of all time. Timberlake pays a great homage to Marvin Gaye here, instead of just lamely covering the song, or totally rearranging it.

Does anybody know if he ever recorded this? I could jam to this alllllll night.

And sure, hater's gonna hate, I do not care. If you hate this, why are you stopping to write in this thread?

Sure you care, cause you asked the question.

I love Marvin's original, so thought i'd check this out. That's why i stopped by.

As usual though it's yet more reason to hate the vapid, talentless Timberlake.

hmph!

His vocal formants are too high which makes his falsetto pretty unrefined.

Justin's singing has gotten better over the years, but his falsetto still gets on my nerves.

ruined Cry Me a river for me, way too nasal, needs to be anchored.

But all in all, a good cover. Justin is showing more and more that he isn't the little douche, that many paint him out to be.

Justin's voice has gotten better over the years, but I agree his falsetto is terrible. It sounds so forced and way too high. There's nothing natural about his falsetto.

some songs need to be left alone, i mean really, cover versions are sometimes AWFUL. not saying i don't like cover versions, but some songs are better off left alone.

Exactly. I couldn't agree more.

But all in all, a good cover. Justin is showing more and more that he isn't the little douche, that many paint him out to be.

Poor Justin is just a victim, isn't he?

Calling the guy "little douche" is an euphemism. He is more than just a little douche. Timberlake is an absolute disgusting guy who tries to deceive his public. Watch his concerts; he fakes he plays intruments and people buy it. If you look attentively, you'll see that he just plays one or two easy, previously-memorized chords than anyone could play. Yet, he managed to, somehow, make the public think he is a multi-instrumentist. The truth is; he can't play one single instrument but he tries- and was sucessful in his attempts- to pass the contrary image.

Furthermore, his voice is uni dimensional and his dancing is below average.

But what really kills his persona is his attitude towards people. The guy is one of the most arrogant, cocky and hideous people in the music industry. I remember that, during the FS/LS tour, every day a new report of him treating fans, employees and people alike, in a disgusting way would come out. Many stoped liking him after that. I'll repeat it: when I was a fan, a new report of him mistreating and being an asshole to his followers would appear, every single day. Reports after reports of him being a hideous person to everybody, fans included, would pop up. That, added with his "let me deceive the public" concerts, made me open my eyes. Not only isn't he talented, but he is also one of the most hateful guys on the business. We're talking about a person who spits and insults his own fans oftenly.

But I have to admit, I enjoy some of his movies,,,,he could have a fruitful acting career if he invests on that.

I liked Justin's rendition. It was nice. I have never really listened to Marvin's music, but they sounded quite similar in some instances.

Don't hate the player... hate the game.

Dude is just doing what he needs to do to stay relevant. He's only playing the system.

HE IS A CELEBRITY,

I.E. a damaged teddy bear of a person that needs to be coddled at every whim.

Celebs throw tantrums,

Celebs feed into their own egos.

Why?

Cause when you have a whole entourage of people giving you props on a 24/7 basis, it corrodes any rationality in your mind.

Don't take it seriously, their lives are really sadder than whats shown,

Trust...

Now chill, take a vicodin and call me in the morning.

Marvin's my fave artist of all time, and that cover was dope. Loved it.

However you can't say positive things about Justin Timberlake in here.

Between the Prince music snobs and the Janet Jackson tribe, they'll pounce all over you for it.
