AC/DC, Pink, Jackson voted best ever.

AC/DC have beaten Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beatles in an online poll to find the best acts of all time.

The Aussie rockers were voted the world's greatest band in the MySpace survey ahead of other legends like Queen, U2 and Coldplay.

Pink was named music's leading lady by Australian voters, leaving Lady Gaga, Madonna and Britney Spears in her wake.

Michael Jackson was heralded the best-ever male artist ahead of Justin Timberlake, Bob Marley and Kanye West.

Jacko's Thriller was voted the greatest video while AC/DC came third with Long Way To The Top.

Shortlists of artists were compiled by a panel of Australian music journalists before the poll was opened to the public on MySpace.

Fans are being invited to listen to playlists by the winners at myspace.com/today

_______

** note Pink did 58 shows here in Australia last year so its no wonder she had a lot of support.

In all the excitement over the impending release of Kanye West's new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (as well as his ongoing "G.O.O.D. Friday" project, the upcoming Watch the Throne EP with Jay-Z and the forthcoming albums from West label members Big Sean and Kid Cudi), it's somewhat easy to forget that West also has a film coming out. The producer-turned-filmm...nute flick (titled "Runaway," just like his masterful single of the same name) on Wednesday night (October 6) in London.

The surreal film follows a relatively straightforward narrative, tracking the fall of an actual phoenix (as in the mythical fire bird), West's love for said woman (played by former Victoria's Secret model and "The Celebrity Apprentice" contestant Selita Ebanks) and the trouble she runs into once she assumes mortal form. But there are plenty of strange and beautiful images folded into it, as well as music from West's upcoming album. Based on reports from the screening, it's an intense and gorgeous experience that should earn West some serious credibility as a filmmaker.

In fact, West isn't afraid to openly discuss his inspirations. When he introduced the piece in London, he said "'Purple Rain', [Pink Floyd's] 'The Wall', Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' — I wanted to do a modern version of that." Those are some pretty intense associations, as "The Wall" was a huge breakthrough for the crossover between rock and film, "Purple Rain" is among Prince's greatest accomplishments and Jackson's "Thriller" is largely considered to be one of the finest music videos ever committed to tape.

But West didn't stop there, as he told the crowd that he also drew from impressionist painters Picasso and Matisse (the latter of whom is probably most famous for "Dance").

(Click here for more of the influences on Kanye West's film "Runaway," including Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd and Prince!)

Those are a lot of disparate influences, but it makes sense for West, who has kept his affinity for fine art, fashion and design as public as his taste in music and movies. And nobody is better at channeling outside influences through his own twisted personality, which is why My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is one of the most anticipated albums of the year and why "Runaway" will be one of the biggest film-related events this season.

Hands-On: Experiencing Michael Jackson on the Wii

Stepping into the Gloved One's shoes feels a little surreal.

"BLACK OR WHITE," FROM "MICHAEL JACKSON THE EXPERIENCE." IMAGE COURTESY OF UBISOFT.

While they're perpetuating popular hardcore franchises like "Splinter Cell" and "Assassins' Creed" on the Xbox 360 and PS3, Ubisoft's quietly established a successful micro-niche of choreography dance games on the Wii. "Just Dance"--the first of these games--emerged as a best-seller when it came out last year and followed by "Dance on Broadway" this year, which gave players the chance to do routines from classic musicals "Guys & Dolls" and "Hair." Now those titles are being joined by "Michael Jackson The Experience."

The game lets players dance (and sing, in the PS3 and Xbox versions) to the late superstar's choreography. I had a chance to check out the Wii version of "MJTE," the baby brother of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 offerings. Those games have been delayed, leaving the Wii game the only one still scheduled to arrive this holiday. (There's also a handheld version on the Nintendo DS, which plays very similarly to the 2006 hit "Elite Beat Agents".) The Microsoft and Sony versions of the MJ game use those companies' Kinect and Playstation Move motion gaming hardware, while "MJ" Wii uses the standard remote. In each case, your movements are tracked to see where they match up with the on-screen movements, Where "Just Dance" and "Dance on Broadway " have gentler interpretations of playable footwork, the Micheal Jackson game takes none of the complexity away from the Gloved One's moves.

The King of Pop gets a weird, slightly fantastic visual interpretation in the video game memorial. There's no other way to put than to say that he doesn't quite have a face. In some songs, he's the Afro-sporting, bell bottoms-rocking dancing machine of the J5 years, only slightly grown up. In others, his skin color's the light-skinned beige of his later years. In none of them does he have a nose (any of his noses) or a mouth. Ubisoft says that this decision is meant to let players more easily think of themselves as Michael Jackson, but it has the odd effect of only reminding you just how bizarre he wound up looking before he died.

Still, one cool corollary to making Jackson's discography playable is that Ubisoft's made videos for songs that never had them. The Afro MJ that I mention above was dancing through "Workin' Day and Night," from the 1978 album "Off The Wall" Never mind that MJ had aged out of the J5 attire by the time the album was released, the creative license here offered by the game in these instances is still fascinating. In such cases, the steps in the game's new music videos have been created with the help of choreographers who worked with Jackson.

As far as the music itself, six tracks have been announced already. Nothing further on the track listing or whether there will be downloadable content for the game has been made public. Here's what out there so far:

• Bad
• Beat It
• Billie Jean
• Black or White
• Earth Song
• Smooth Criminal
• The Girl Is Mine
• They Don't Care About Us
• Who Is It
• Workin' Day And Night

If you're in New York City this weekend, you'll be able to try out these songs this weekend at New York Comic-Con. Look for Ubisoft at booth #1617 at the Jacob Javits Center. The Wii version of "Michael Jackson The Experience" will be in stores on November 23rd and the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions should be out early next year.

With many thanks to Paris, Pierre Bergé & Associés – here is an exclusive look at what is going to become a very exciting Michael Jackson Auction for fans everywhere.

Next December 13th, auction house Paris, Pierre Bergé & Associés will hold an exclusive auction to sell photos from a stunning session that Michael Jackson did for his Invincible album but that were never used or seen because his record company deemed them too daring!

The main attraction of this sensational auction will be the presentation of a photo called “The Sphinx” – which Michael wanted to use for the cover of Invincible.

A bunch of never-before-seen photos of Michael Jackson are going up for auction on December 13th via Pierre Bergé & Associés. The photos were taken by Arno Bani back in 1998 while MJ was making Invincible.

Bani photographed Michael over several days in Paris at a private warehouse.

But the results were "so bold that the singer's record company discarded the whole project and buried the pictures", according to the auction.

Revealed

Below is a rare photograph of the Sphinx shot from front & behind.
