Who here does the better version of "For The Love Of You"?

I've always thought Whitnet does a FANTASTIC job on her version. It would have been a perfect duet for them to perform together, that woulda been hot.

I love the Isley Brothers version, I do, but I gotta give it up to Whit, her voice sounds so angelic...

I wouldve enjoyed Nippy's version had it not been for puke worthy Kenny G .

I gotta go with the Isleys. I just like the laid-back 70s vibe of the track, and the drifting high tenor vocal.

Zambian-Brit singer Hil St. Soul did a version in 2002, which is close to the original than Whitney's, but still a nice contemporary take.

Isleys take this one, but I will say they are never getting At Your Best back from Aaliyah.

I like Whitney's version of this song The arrangement is cool,breezy and exotic.Narada Michael Walden did a great job with the production.

But,the original version by the Isleys is the best.

I think it's one of the highlights of her second album They play it all the time on our local Quiet Storn station.

I found that Joss Stone has done her own version of this classic

Isleys!!!!!!! I will say that Whitney's version is probably one of the weaker tracks on her second album.

Nah, I can't agree with that. Aaliyah may have popularized it, but there's no doubt who has the better version. The Isleys, of course! Their's is a tad slower and has more soul in my opinion, and Ron's voice is like no other, so it adds that extra oomph to the song.

As far as the original post, I can't even believe this is a question or a doubt in anyone's mind!! NO ONE will be able to top the Isleys' original, and it sho' nuff won't be Whitney! The production on her version loses that "breezy", easy going feel of the original. It's kind of like how Mint Condition did a remake of IB's Make Me Say It Again Girl. Just horrid and unnecessary. Completely devoid of any of the soul and charm of the original!

It's rare for a cover to be better than the original version, and there are definitely exceptions to that (tracks from Luther, the Isleys, and Phyllis Hyman immediately come to mind), but these two tunes here aren't on that list!

I can hear similiarities between Ron and Al but I knew it was the Isleys.
