The Emancipation Of Mimi generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), two #1 singles, and countless more honors during its 18-month chart stay. Notwithstanding the rather garish cover art, I'm more interested in the songs themselves. If they sound good, I'm there.

Personally, I don't care what the cover looks like. I'm more concerned about what she's going to sound like. Mimi simply does not possess the vocal power she had when she recorded her first Christmas album. I'm just afraid that instead of singing out loud and strong, she's going to end up whispering most of these tunes. That would be a huge letdown for me.

James Poyser and Randy Jackson got me sold that it may be a good strong set of tunes

I'm not a fan of Christmas albums but I love James Poyser's work, and hopefully he might push her to actually open her mouth and sing her throat off instead of hissing through her front teeth.

Same here! I liked his work with her on Mine Again...he made her sound so good I got a chill when she hit that last screaming note.
