I never got into this album. I loved Amerikka's Most Wanted and the Kill at Will ep though.

I've never heard that song. All I remember is seeing a video on BET in the early 1990s where Ice Cube angrily talks about black men that date white women and rappers that he considered "soft" or "sellouts" like MC Hammer. In the video, he throws the black guy that dated the black woman in the trunk of a car. To someone like me, who loves and dates black people, I was highly offended. However, to someone racist who hates black people, it thrills them to death to see black people so gun ho on sticking with their race that they would cause violence against another black person that didn't. It's like having that stupid black person to do the work of the rednecks without them having to do it themselves. The way I see it, someone like Ice Cube who has those feelings about interracial dating is the one that's the real sellout because he's giving the rednecks exactly what they want. If I'm not mistaken, I think he eventually ended up with a white woman himself.

As for "Black Korea", no I've never heard it. I'm not a shit hop listener. I just happen to see a racist video from Ice Cube from another song on BET. As for the song being for the benefit of someone, I'm sure it's just for the benefit of his own ignorance and stupidity.

We both dislike Shithop with a passion but.....Icecube is far, far away from Shithop, and "Death Certificate" is definitely not Shithop ( and yes, I am very familiar with your definition of that term lol lol ).

Icecube is a lot of things..maybe homophobic, maybe anti-Korean, maybe anti-flat ass, probably against interracial relationships...but he´s definitely not Shithop.

Oh honey, you just described some of the things that put the shit in shit hop. Shit hop is hip hop that is full of shit. Yes, stripped down slow to midtempo dull music is shit but homophobia, racism, criminalism, and thuggism is shit also. It's bad enough they're boring as hell but they have to carry themselves like thugs and criminals and be things like homophobic, racist, etc., too.

Something can be dull and I may not like it but I will respect it but when thuggish, criminal minded, homophobic or racist assholes not only make dull shit but flaunt their ignorance, I have no respect for them or their genre whatsoever. That's why I can respect classical music but despise shit hop and both of them are equally dull. If there was slammin' jam like "Planet Rock" but some thug made it and also flaunted his homophobia or racism, that jam would be shit hop also.

Ah okay then. I thought your main criteria for Shithop were the bpm. wink

That's a huge part of it but I also can stand thugs. I find it rediculous to glorify some damn criminal and also, as a gay man, I would be an absolute hypocrit to tolerate some piece of trash talking homophobic shit about us. Never until shit hop have I seen such rediculousness. It used to be country music that had the most homophobic audiences but at least the country artists themselves weren't spewing their bullshit from the lyrics in the songs, they just had a trashy redneck audience that was ignorant all on their own. Shit hop is a damned breeding ground for the bullshit.

This is the album that made me go "wtf?" when white, middle-class American started accepting him as an actor and "celebrity". I was like, "well CLEARLY they haven't heard Death Certificate". lol

nod

Lyrics aside, the music was (is) so fuckin' great. Best rap album of the 90-92 era. Period cool

Pfff just a collage of P-Funk songs really confused

What Dre did on the chronic was the same idea but executed soooo much better really

from the start when that preacher says "he was the wrong ...... 2 fuck with!" it was on!!

contains one of THE classic dis songs "no vaseline" cause NWA AIN'T SHIT WITHOUT ICE CUBE!!

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Because racist lyrics coming from blacks are showing the state of mind that racist whites would love for all blacks to have. Regardless of the anger in they way the lyrics are presented, they are happy to see lyrics that promote sticking with their own kind and "staying in their place".

Why are these lyrics acceptable even garnering respect... but when Morrissey says "subspecies", people condemn him as being a bigot...

weird...

Because Morrissey is white, of course.
