WTF?!? Well, I can't vouch for his recent work, but back in the day when he was working with Dr. Dre he was one of the most awesome rappers in the business. But he's been around nearly 20 years now (see how time flies), and for the past ten years or so he's been as much a celebrity as he has been a rapper. He's been in movies, he's had a couple of his own reality shows, and he's been the 21st century equivalent of those washed up actors who appeared in guest spots on The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, appearing in a number of TV shows and commercials in cameos. So I'm not sure how his upcoming album will be. The Snoop that did "Nuttin' But a G Thing" would have never appeared in a Katy Perry video, but that was a long time ago.
BTW, you could pretty much say the same thing about LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Ice-T, Ice Cube, and RZA, as a whoile generation of people probably aren't even aware of their careers as hip-hop stars.

Bad rapping skills can indeed kill a career, but personality and charisma can sustain it as well. Snoop has personality and charisma. It's limited, but it's there.
Plus appearing on various pop songs keeps him relevant. He's become the Michael McDonald of hip-hop.
But what do I know. I'm hummin' on Jack and Coke, and half a vicodin.

WTH is wrong with you people. Snoop is still relavent, his recent work is still pretty dope. I admit I haven't heard his last two albums, but he's had a hell of a career, and he'll continue to be around, because he's an ARTIST. He has the ability to make good music, and he has a huge fan base. So while I don't think he's the best rapper, he's in the top tier, he's a true MC. Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

Snoop gets a lifetime pass for 'Doggystyle' alone. His flow around the that time was ruthless and relentless because he was hungry. Every album since then I've had to take it track by track. Really seems to depend on who he's working with and how into it the subject matter he was at the time. He still kills it on ocassion, but he seems completely bored half the time, too.
Word to your granny and your daddy and your mothah. Yeeyah.
Shit. I could post that whole album.

Snoop has the perfect voice for rap. One of the best out there.

True, his rap game hasn't aged well. He's become a caricature of his former self. Like somebody else said, when he was young and hungry he was one of the best. I have no problem with him going Hollywood-- a man's gotta make a living. Snoop, LL, Ice T, RZA, Mos Def, Common and Cube are fortunate to have found life after rap.

If we're talking about the best of west coast hip-hop/rap, there is only Ice Cube OR Snoop Dogg worth discussing at the moment. Maybe you can throw in DJ Quik & E-40 in the mix as well.
Since Ice-T & the late 2pac can clain bi-coastal, we'll leave then out of this.

Hey! welcome back to the Org. I know you said you had to cut off your internet for a liittle bit, but were you able to get it back online or did you suddenly discover your place is near a wi-fi connection so you don't need to pay a monthly bill?

I've liked Snoop ever since "Nothing But a G Thang," with Dr. Dre. Snoop has always been there for me. He's a goof ball and seems like a likeable pothead to hang out with.
Has anyone heard his duet with Robyn on "U Should Know Better." It's fantastic. And it's a real duet. The two shift back and forth in a very complimentary way. It's a collaboration and not just some phone in rap (Kate Perry) at the end of a song. snoop probably doesn't give a shit anymore. he proved everything with just 1 album, the nastiest and sickest flow you could ever get.
he can still pull it out when he wants.
the robyn track is shit hot!

Awful...............my ears are bleeding.

That's an opinion I can appreciate, but to say he's not a good rapper is just, well, inaccurate.

Oh come on. Really? I think it's pretty fantastic. But I do love me some Robyn so my ears are biased. I beg to differ. Snoop isn't lazy as much as he is too much of a popstar at this later stage of his music career.
Think about it, the Snoop Dogg from the Death Row Records-era & the No Limit Records would have NEVER been caught dead doing a dance-pop track with Katy Perry!
