there are far too many to list from back in the day, shit the Beatles own guite a few of these, to a few of the Stones albums, a few Led Zeps, Clapton,Wonder,Bowie, Prince,Michael,Bruce,Elton,BillyJ, and tons of others, so i will just do mine as a "Whats your most recent Filler Free Albums"

There have always been albums which had a couple of hits, a couple of decent album or b-side tracks on it, and the rest being crap, but I think the advent of the CD really brought out the crappy filler tracks. Prior to that most artists only put out albums 30 to 40 minutes in length, so they only had eight to ten tracks on the album. They may have recorded 20 to 25 tracks, but only the best ones would make the album. But once the record companies replaced viynl and cassettes with CD's and charged a premium to record buyers for the privilege of listening to CD's, they felt that they needed to justify raising the price. And because CD's could accomodate 70 minutes of recordings, they loaded the CD's with extra tracks. While some artists were creative and adventurous enough to take advantage of the extra space, the rest of them shouldn't have done this in the first place. That's why so many pop, R&B and hip-hop albums had a bunch of "interludes" that basically filled in as sonic spackle in between tracks. And even then, some artists who would struggle to fill in 40 minutes of decent material showed their limitations even further on CD.

Well that sums it up right there, to me, Great Albums are rarely over 40 minutes 10 tracks. I always said i never want 80minutes of music from an artist on an album and since the cd can hold that, that is why to me, the day of the Classic Album is long gone, probably has been gone since the early 90's. And now iTunes with this 99 cent track shit, who really buys an album anymore except the diehard fans. Since the CD i cant think of a long album that i can say was great track one to the end, its been the ones that are short, to the point, 10-12 tracks at the most about 40-45 minutes, thats all i need. It was these 19 track 79 minute cds with bathroom breaks and skits and interviews that lead to the end of great albums. it opened the door for ok albums

As RomeoBlu stated, Lonely girl on bourbon street is the only song that might classify as filler (I think its a decent track).

A lot of people don't like Terry's voice but musically the album slams.

This is esp. true in the early 90s when CDs were first becoming big. Prime examples of "overstuffing?"
