The Whispers I've just listened for the first time to The Whispers Anthology, I knew ''It's A Love Thing'' but thought that it was their only hit!! This cd has certainly opened my eyes and they've now gained a new fan.
Anyone else into these guys?

Welcome. The Whispers have a very good body of work. I think Nicholas Caldwell is one of the best romantic songwriters of the 20th century. His music is just BEAUTIFUL.
All of their SOLAR albums are pretty easy to find. Some of my favs:

Yes indeed!! I've been a Whispers fan since the late 70's and I, too, have all of their albums. I agree with daPrettyman about Nick's writing, too. Such a romantic!! For whatever reason, a song from their first album, "I Only Meant To Wet My Feet," remains one of my absolute favorites. I like their uptempo stuff, but they soar on ballads! Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

I fell in love with the jam "Rock Steady" off of the album Just Gets Better With Time (1987), when I heard a local R&B cover band do a version of it...

"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

Some musicians from College were in The Whispers' tourband for years

This is their 1st single, which was released in 1964.
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
