Yeah, Robin's talented, I like some of stuff. I think it was SoulAlive who got me to take second look at Thicke with his 2008 release, "Something Else".
The album that started his spiral downhill in quality.

I agree that it's his most consistent album.
My favorite Thicke songs are probably "Would That Make U Love Me," "You're My Baby," "The Stupid Things," and "2 the Sky." "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis |

No way!!! That was the album where he gave up his eccentric and went for boring middle of the road bland r&b/pop. Sure, he built on his mainstream pop-dom but sold his artistic soul. But, seeing the peeps who like it (and their musical taste), I am not surprised as whom likes this album and who don't. Space for sale... |

The only "eccentric" Thicke album is the first one. Something Else is clearly in the same vein as The Evolution..., but it's shorter and more focused.
Thanks for the compliment at any rate. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis |

Exactly.'Evolution' is amazing but there are a few too many guest artists on it.I prefer 'Something Else' because it's a more focused album with only one collaboration that doesn't come until the very end.Plus,I think 'Something Else' contains stronger uptempo tracks than its predecessor. |

It was that ONE collaboration that prevented me from even buying it. [Edited 9/15/10 20:24pm] |
