I don't think Chuck had any involvement in the production of first Tease LP.

On a side note: I love the way that Kipper sang on the first album, he ditched the exciting vocals on all of the following projects. I wonder why

You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

That's a good question. By the last Tease album, he sounded limp as hell.

But that first Tease album..... LOVED it then & now. What a lineup...Chuckii, Mims, Rex Salas, the Organ Brothers....with Kipper up front. That was a dream funk band right there.

The last TEASE album was mostly produced by Mtume. Hardly a good combination with an LA. funk band such as them. They were eagerly looking for an identity as the musicianship was incredibly over the top but that last album was stale and was the worst sounding album sonically. It was nowhere near the 2nd album which in my opinion was the best sounding TEASE album.

Which came first , music or the ear for it?

VERY similar indeed. Seems like he borrowed it just for the remix years later thinking no one would catch it. lol

Still works though

If i'm guessing correct, then your notice refers to the "Baby Be Mine" soundclip (from their second & self-titled album) which i posted ? ... cool

Yeah, the youtube-poster added the wrong record-sleeve (the first Tease album from 1983), which is confusing. Chuckii is only mentioned in the "Thank you" liner-notes from their first album, and is spelled on that sleeve as "Chucky". I think that Chuck was still part of Barry White's band around 1983. One of the first tracks on which i saw his name mentioned as a composer was "Action Speaks Louder Than Words" by Kiddo around 1984, which he co-wrote with Tease :

"Tingle" is the jam though imo

From the second album, "Better Wild Than Mild" is indeed a monsterjam

I kinda saw "Tingle" as just a "Firestarter" re-hash. I jammed on "Kick" offa that album.

Totally agree @ "Better Wild"..that kicks ass. Whole album was great, too.

Still tho....that first one was bomb drop, IMO.

Interesting about Chuckii & Donnie Sterling's project....never noticed that lil factoid.

Brante was insinuating that Chuckii re-used an earlier composition when I don't think he had anything to do with the original track (not saying it wouldn't completely rule out that theory since the line is practically the same)

Credits on "Baby Be Mine" TEASE 1986 ( C. Booker, J. Shanklin K. Jones )

Also, Chuckii himself said this on his facebook page about TEASE and that particular song.

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=239166485397&set=a.235481390397.279636.622340397&pid=7877017&id=622340397

The quote from chuckii himself is as follows...

"Me and Jay came up with the track. It was originally called "Repeat the beat" but Kip came in and stopped all that nonsense real quick lol Came up with the end title and lyrics. real funky if you will"

Which came first , music or the ear for it?
