Jacci Mcghee F U N K Y REMiiX by Chuckii Booker

One of my boyz just sent me this link. All i have to say is i had no idea Chuckii Booker was putting it down like that on drums. Dude gets even more respect from me and I'm sure a lot of P fans will not like this but ... he is the closest to Prince as far as a multi-instrumentalist is concerned (and in some ways superior) . I knew he played bass and keys but damn... I'm scared of this dude. He is a BEAST.

Chuckii is multi faceted and is underrated and i dig practically most of his work

but the Prince comparison is just out there.

Like i said.... He is closest to being Prince as far as being a multi instrumentalist. It's just my opinion.

I said in some ways... not ALL ways, Please dont get it twisted and go on your Prince purist rants. I am a BIG Prince fan as well as a Chuckii fan but i call it as i see it. Chuckii is a bad cat musically and Im sure if any one says he's not is just hating or being biased. Oh my bad, i am on a Prince website. smile

Anyway, If you listened to it, you'd get where I'm coming from. maybe... have a good one

Chuckii was CRIMINALLY underrated and underpromoted. I've had his two debut albums since they came out.

He NAILED the Minneapolis sound better than anyone besides Prince himself.

Just listen 2 "That's My Honey"... Check out the Bass.

Got Da**, if that is in fact him playing all of that ( and im pretty sure that is him) then all i have to say is that man can play with Prince or whomever he chooses. That remix is really on some other sh** as far as a funk pocket is concerned. I'm just sayin'

Actually Jesse nailed the Minneapolis Sound better than anyone besides Prince.

Chuckii Is a dope producer, I wish his solo stuff was more funky.

Anyone here have any info on the source of this Chuckii produced version?? Would LOVE to find it, but the only info I can find about the commercially released 12" for the track is NOT the Chuckii version.

Hey Jamfan, i am good friends with Anthony (AJ) Jeffries who is actually Lalah Hathaway's engineer. Back in the early 90's he was responsible for engineering and mixing some of Chuckii's Niice N Wiild cd ( he also mixed "Games". I asked him this morning about this Jacci Mcghee remix and he confirmed not only did he record this version but also confirmed that Chuckii did in fact play all the instruments on the remix. It is possible that it was never released due to the fact that after the remix was completed, Jacci was dropped from her label therefore never hitting the streets.

Thanx, Brante.....that seems to be the case. I can't find anything about it being commercially released stateside or abroad.

It's a SHAME. As this track attests, there's prolly some great CB work out there..but not in crisp post-prod form. (Morris' "Old School" being another case in point). He did SO much production work in the early 90's...loved it all.

Been signin Chuckii's praises since '89....ANYTHING he touches musically is gold, IMO.

lol! Bitches on my dick because I look like julius caesar'

Chuckii has some good cuts like Soultrilogy 123 but most of the content on his solo albums is more newjack/quiet storm.

You can't debate that.

I'm not knocking Chuckii either, I just prefer something different.

Highly debatable, if you think the title cut Niice n Wiild, Frontline and I Giit around are new jack cutz then you obviously have had your tongue too far in between P's nut sack. Like i said earlier, You're obviously a Prince Purist in it's finest form and there is nothing wrong with that. It's all good "Julius"

Enjoy the salt from the sack!

Do I really need 2 get BlaqueKnight in here to explain to you the difference between funk and new jack swing? lol

Of course if you think its funky thats fine with me

But the fact is that his album is newjack/quietstorm with funk elements tossed into the mix.

You can cry about my opinion all you want but when it comes to FUNK you can't tell me shit!

Hey bruh, you dont have to bring BK in here to co-sign anything.. Funk is Funk... regardless of what style. Seems that your funk is very one dimenional in your outlook, that's cool. Expand your horizons and know the different styles of funk . For your information, New Jack is basically all Teddy Riley. Chuckii is a hybrid but definitely not New Jack. I dont have to get a co-signer to know that man. It is a matter of opinion as you say so...

i agree to disagree with you home skillet.

You just don't know when to stop failing do you?

I enjoy a wide variety of Funk.

Chuckii Booker's solo albums contain very little Funk in any form or fashion.

He is very capable of funked out joints so I wish that he had utilized that sound more often with his personal material. It's nothing for you to get angry about. Get off my dick if you can't handle my opinions.
