Best Slept on Soul Album

Lately I've been listening to the excellant Society of Soul album Brainchild, a 1995 relase that so many folks I know nver heard. What is your favorite "slept on" soul album?

Dick Smith's Roger Troutman produced album from 1983...

Roger was an underrated producer.

i have the SOS album. loved the single E.M.B.R.A.C.E.

as far as best slept on, hmmm, "soul" (a Roger album and a Neo-soulish album as the only entries so far, so looks like a vast continuum), let me think. Come in to My World by Rogiers comes to mind. strong vocalist. good production

Carleen Anderson keeps putting out excellent albums, which are routinely slept on! Blessed Burden is a great album, as are the two that have followed (Alberta's Granddaughter and Soul Providence).

Mica Paris's Black Angel is one I go back to again and again, too.

This brother died right after the release of his 1992 debut album. For my money, it remains one of THE biggest losses soul music has seen in the years since. sad rose

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

We Need Each Other - Leo's Sunship

Thats a great album smile

Also, I'd say that anything produced by the Mizell Brothers(except Taste Of Honey's debut) is highly underrated,,,,,esp Gary Bartz.

One of my fave album. The production is a cross between Shuggie Otis & Maze, but its totally theirs too.

Linda Clifford "I'm Yours",

1980 RSO/Capitol Records

Linda Clifford "I'll Keep On Loving You"

1982 Capitol Records

Donna Washington "Going for the Glow"

1981 Capitol Records

The McCrary's "All Night Music"

1982 Capitol Records

This was when Capitol had some awesome R&B acts. Ain't so now tho, sadly. sadx

The ones I put in BOLD are the ones that are particularly excellent. smile
