Well, he couldn't be in hiding forever. I think he should've made Ireland his home and should travel back and forth to the US when business required it. At least he could spare himself media torment. But you have to remind yourself that he died due to what the "doctor" adminstered to him.. and that could've happened anywhere he was living sad

I think he could and should have stayed out of america, he could have done well overseas, as you know, the show was set overseas. He would have been treated better and he would have been away from many of the creditors and IRS. In some ways i think he was just burned out though and may not have had it in him to do much better no matter where he was and trickery is certainly not confined to these shores. I just believe America can get inside one's head in a way that the other places wouldn't.

I wasn't really privy to the whole Michael-Jermaine rivalry and don't doubt it but it was Jermaine who stood up the fastest and loudest when his bro was attacked, that counts for something. And speaking of the MSG thing, I remember Tito sing OPP during one of the songs and mike trying to shut him up, it looks like mike was the only one with his head on straight enough to be in the big leagues. The others thought talented were not disciplined or sensible enough. Say what you will about Mike, at one point he knew how to say and do all the right things, even if they were not entirely true, he knew what to do to get where he wanted and he did it.

Randy was singing OPP and Mike look pissed wasn't sure if they was playing around at first but clearly he wasn't lol.

yeah, mike was pissed, see what I mean? He knew that wasn't a good idea, Randy didn't and from the looks of it it was discussed beforehand probably with Mike being adamant about not putting that in. Mike had much better instincts when it came to the whole hip hop thing than most people of his generation, he never tried to rap on any of his releases and still gets credit for being the best beatboxer ever, something from the earliest days of rap when he was still young.

Because he stopped working. Everyone stopped working for him including his staff, guards, etc. There was another issue with Faye organizing a fan club/website and fans paying their membership and then the site closed. Maybe other fans have more details on that. Anyway, he left the US and went to the Bahrain. Faye only worked with him when he was working (tours, shows, appearances, shoots, etc.) Although I have to say, he did start looking better after not working with her. The way Michael looked post-trial to his recent days are when he looked his best in the 2000s, in my opinion.

I knew he went to bahrain and felt that he should never come back, some reason he couldn't resist. He could have been an expatriate like many black figures before him who'd been hounded out of the country.

I agree. When he left, I was glad he had gotten away. He seemed more healthier too

I'm not Michael & don't pretend to know him personally - I believe leaving America did Michael good. He may have seemed like a vagabond but he probably had time to clear his head and just spent time with himself & his children...but I feel he would not have came back home if he didn't want too.

what can we say? America is america but home is home. Chuck Berry took some excursions and enjoyed them but eventually wrote "Back In The USA" which told why he would want to be back in the same country that would lock him up if he sneezed. Marvin Gaye, by all accounts, was never healthier and happier than when he was in Belgium. I guess making more money, missing family all factor in and as Ali said when asked why he doesn't just leave america in the 60's "I was born here and it's my home".

For a moment there I got excited thinking there was a shot of Michael in the This Is It outfits, but then I looked again and realised it was photoshopped.

It's sad that pics of Michael in the tour costumes never eventuated. I know he tried on a few elements, like the opening number piece, but sad he never got to put them all on.

No, she was re-hired in 2009 for the TII project. She hadn't seen Michael from post-trial up to the begining of 2009. They hadn't seen each during that time in between.

Ahh that must explain the upturn in his appearance those years. She stopped clowning him up with make-up.

Ok so let's talk music - with the utlimate MJ elimination collection.

Here are the rules.

Create a playlist up to 16 tracks to feature songs from MJ's solo albums OTW through to Invincible but here is the catch - it's a knock out for each position. This means only q track one can make it, only one track 2, and so on.

For example - in your playlist which track one do you choose, Don't Stop, Wanna Be Startin Somethin', Bad, Jam, Blood on the Dancefloor, Scream or Unbreakable. Only one can go through. And once you've picked it the rest of the songs can't appear. Some are easy picks, others are difficult.

It's a deliciously painful selection. You can choose to stop at 9 tracks or go through to 16.

Here is how mine ended up.

The Swa Selects

1. Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'

2. They Don't Care about Us

3. Workin' Day and Night

4. Break of Dawn

5. Remember the Time

6. Billie Jean

7. Money

8. Black or White

9. Who is it

10. Smooth Criminal

11. Will you be there

12. 2 Bad

13. HiStory

14. Dangerous

15. Whatever Happens

I choose to stop there than include Threatened - it just didn't make the cut.

So what are your elimination selects?

Post em.

1993 American Music Awards

I honestly loved watching these clips. Michael got a standing ovation for every award he won AND he got an award named after him. I wonder if the AMA's ever gave out the "International Michael Jackson Award" after 1993. Michael really was going beyond the stratosphere. It's sad to think that in a few months, the world and press turned his world upside down forever.

Or at least in Ireland. nod Either one would've been great for him. It hurts that every time I think about this era, it reminds me of when Marvin moved to Belgium and Marvin looked healthy and happy during that period.

A shame both of them gotta be the "what-ifs" and not the "what could've been's".
