I don't doubt that, my only contention is the whole family had talent, not that they won't sell mike down the river like everyone else who gets a chance.

I'm disappointed in Jermaine. He's got his own hits. He should be doing those, not his brother's.

I think Hot Street and She's Trouble were possibly part of the original tracklist "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Nite Line was too, I think.

If a 1982 version of For All Time is in that vault, we need to hear it
and have you checked out that thread on MJJC? They really think those lame jokes are hilarious
Some people have a terrible sense of humor.....if they want humor, I can give it to them.... "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I don't know why some of y'all still go there? Fuck MJJC for real lol
I don't even think a 1982 version of that song exists. I think Michael kept it so he can work on it years later (as we only got the remastered 1990 version from the "Dangerous" sessions on Thriller 25).

They dropped for all time cause it was smiliar to human nature
wincy clones said they worked on 800 songs for thriller MICHAEL JACKSON

Toto presented two songs (those two you mentioned). The Toto demo of "For All Time" was dropped because Quincy didn't like it lol but Michael did and he kept it (that's why he waited until 1990 to do the demo version lol). Yeah I think it was 800 songs lol
I know Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" was originally written and composed in a style similar to Michael's by Rufus' Hawk Wolinski but Wolinski was convinced this would be perfect for Chaka so he rearranged the song from what it was originally to a sound similar to Chaka's lol

I kind of look at Quincy like Berry Gordy. Berry turned down a lot of songs but they eventually got released on Motown, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", "What's Going On" and Diana's version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" being some examples. Ironically enough Berry thought Diana's version of that song was too long until people remixed the song in three minute lengths making it okay for release. However he had a hard time with the former two. Norman Whitfield kept pushing for "Grapevine" and radio deejays pushed it after it was played. Marvin refused to record unless "What's Going On" was released.
Similar almost to Michael vs. Quincy over "Billie Jean" lol

Quincy is a damn fool if he couldn't 'hear' the greatness and hit potential of "Billie Jean".He's supposed to be this genuis producer, but sometimes I wonder.

and he wanted it to be called " not my lover" not "billie jean" MICHAEL JACKSON

I don't think Q was trying to reject the record, he just didn't want people to think the song was about Billie Jean King...and he didn't like the long intro
I feel like, if Q didn't want the song on the album, he must've felt there was another record that was BETTER than Billie Jean
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
He apparently had problems with the length, the title (he assumed folks would think Michael was talking about Billie Jean King ) and thought it wouldn't be a hit for some reason because of its subject matters (illegitimate pregnancy, gossip over pregnancy, groupies). Michael and Bruce Swedien's only compromise was with the length. It was originally 6 minutes and 30 seconds, it was shortened to 4 minutes and 54 seconds. Other than that, Michael fought to keep it on the record and he eventually won out.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Possibly so but he probably didn't think the song would make an impact. Michael said "no this song is THE HIT!" Michael had worked on that song for about four years. And he was hell-bent on keeping it. There was a lot of tension between Michael and Quincy during the Thriller sessions.
