I don't doubt that, my only contention is the whole family had talent, not that they won't sell mike down the river like everyone else who gets a chance.

"The Jackson Family sound" to new heights. And when in reality, Janet was probably

the person who had a distinct sound second to Michael. Not that I want The Jackson

brothers to live under a rock, but truth be told, they are all living well off Michael's

take Michael's legacy, and spread it around, like they were all responsible. Thriller

wasn't a "Jackson family album" and nor was "Billie Jean" a "Jackson family song" -

yet trust me, at this silly show (if it happens at all) Jermaine will be doing lead on

all those songs too "to honor Michael." confused

Does anyone know the original track list to the Thriller album?

I remember the Thriller documentary mentioning that they recorded 9 records, but Quincy felt 4 of them wasn't strong enough. 4 of the records were replaced with Human Nature, PYT and Lady In My Life

I know Human Nature replaced Carousel and PYT replaced the original version written by MJ and Greg, but what song(s) did Lady In My Life replace? It had to replace 2 songs if 4 of the originals were taken off, but when you think about it, LIML had to be edited down also (removing second verse).

I think Hot Street and She's Trouble were possibly part of the original tracklist

Oh Got the Hots I can see but not For All Time though it was recommended. lol

Didn't Michael or Bruce or someone say they worked on like 100 songs for the "Thriller" project between 1979 and 1982? lol

If a 1982 version of For All Time is in that vault, we need to hear it mad

I don't know why some of y'all still go there? Fuck MJJC for real lol

I don't even think a 1982 version of that song exists. I think Michael kept it so he can work on it years later (as we only got the remastered 1990 version from the "Dangerous" sessions on Thriller 25).

Toto presented two songs (those two you mentioned). The Toto demo of "For All Time" was dropped because Quincy didn't like it lol but Michael did and he kept it (that's why he waited until 1990 to do the demo version lol). Yeah I think it was 800 songs lol

I know Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" was originally written and composed in a style similar to Michael's by Rufus' Hawk Wolinski but Wolinski was convinced this would be perfect for Chaka so he rearranged the song from what it was originally to a sound similar to Chaka's lol

I kind of look at Quincy like Berry Gordy. Berry turned down a lot of songs but they eventually got released on Motown, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", "What's Going On" and Diana's version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" being some examples. Ironically enough Berry thought Diana's version of that song was too long until people remixed the song in three minute lengths making it okay for release. However he had a hard time with the former two. Norman Whitfield kept pushing for "Grapevine" and radio deejays pushed it after it was played. Marvin refused to record unless "What's Going On" was released.

Similar almost to Michael vs. Quincy over "Billie Jean" lol

I don't think Q was trying to reject the record, he just didn't want people to think the song was about Billie Jean King...and he didn't like the long intro

I feel like, if Q didn't want the song on the album, he must've felt there was another record that was BETTER than Billie Jean

He apparently had problems with the length, the title (he assumed folks would think Michael was talking about Billie Jean King confused ) and thought it wouldn't be a hit for some reason because of its subject matters (illegitimate pregnancy, gossip over pregnancy, groupies). Michael and Bruce Swedien's only compromise was with the length. It was originally 6 minutes and 30 seconds, it was shortened to 4 minutes and 54 seconds. Other than that, Michael fought to keep it on the record and he eventually won out.

Possibly so but he probably didn't think the song would make an impact. Michael said "no this song is THE HIT!" Michael had worked on that song for about four years. And he was hell-bent on keeping it. There was a lot of tension between Michael and Quincy during the Thriller sessions.
