Slash’s Extra Dimension: ‘By the Sword’ Now in 3D [img:$uid]http://i52.tinypic.com/330s7eo.jpg[/img:$uid]
Sep 2010
Slash’s first video from his debut solo album, Slash, which was released in April, is now available in 3D. “By the Sword” features vocals from Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother and ferocious guitar from the Chapeaued Shredder.
The 3D conversion was produced by PassmoreLab. In a press statement, Slash said, “From Andrew’s vocals, to Vance directing me again, to PassmoreLab doing the 3D, it has been a killer experience and I am thrilled with it.”
Vance Burberry, director of the video has worked with Slash since his Guns N’ Roses days, where he was director of photography on the band’s “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” “Paradise City” and “Welcome to the Jungle” rock videos. “On this one, we created a kind of post-apocalyptic future, where people are starved for music,” Burberry said. “We end up underground in this dark, deserted power plant bunker, where Slash and the band are mesmerizing an audience. When I found out that we were doing the conversion with PassmoreLab, I thought that environment was perfect for 3D.”
“By The Sword" in 3D will be seen via video on demand on various network locations in Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Australia, Japan and Canada, at the 3D Experience Entertainment & Technology Festival as the pre-roll to U23D in Times Square, New York City; and at Hard Rock Cafes in Barcelona and Madrid. More locations will be announced later.

Cool for Slash news/support. But I hate 3D conversion. Film it that way to begin with or leave it alone. Anybody see Clash of the Titans in the theater in 3D and then see it at home on Blu-Ray or DVD? It's two completely different movies STRICTLY because of the 3D conversion. But I do love some Slash. Makes me feel old when I think about the fact that I purchased Appetite on vinyl when it was new. | |
