The official 'Isley Brothers' and 'Isley-Jasper-Isley' Thread

Been really watching a lot of Isley Brother videos on youtube lately. Been a huge fan of them FOREVER. Just got done looking up their discography on wikipedia, wow, long history of music. Got some question that I want to ask:

IS THERE A BOOK ON THE HISTORY OF THE ISLEY BROTHERS?

DID THEY WRITE 'SHOUT' 'TWIST AND SHOUT' Their early hits?

WERE THEY EVER WITH MOTOWN?

WHY DID THE 3+3 ISLEY BROTHERS SPLIT UP IN 1983?

DOES ANYONE AGREE WITH ME THAT CHRIS JASPER AND ERNIE ISLEY WERE FIIIIOONE BACK IN THE DAY (Ron Isley, so-so?) lol.

[Edited 9/6/10 20:01pm]

I hope this thread gets as big as the 'The Jackson Family Thread' did!! biggrin

1.) No there hasn't been and it should be, their story covers nearly the entire history of popular music.

2.) They wrote "Shout" but Bert Berns wrote "Twist & Shout", it was their version that the Beatles imitated though.

3.) Yeah for at least two years between 1966 and 1968.

4.) A number of reasons: financial difficulties with T-Neck, infighting between the older Isleys and the younger Isleys and Mr. Jasper, changing musical times, etc.

5.) No one would argue that Chris Jasper and Ernie Isley were/are sexy. Same with Rudy Isley. He had a charm to him. Marvin was cute lol O'Kelly and Ron were OK looking I guess. Ron's voice definitely was his saving grounds. lol

OH SNAPS! I forgot to ask about the whole tax evasion thing with Ronald Isley. Yeah, I actually heard he was taking his dead brothers (Kelly Isley's) royalities...yeah, I hear that Ron Isley is very gangster.

All three used to spend lavishly (Kelly, Rudy and Ron). I'm guessing the reason Rudy quit was because of what he was doing with the money the brothers got. Ron didn't seem to shake away from wanting to live lavishly.

I think it was an open secret... I know of a story of the three Isley Brothers getting into a lawsuit with Wilson Pickett over something I read in JET, I'm sure someone told that story before lol I think at least the two eldest Isleys were confronted by Wilson over some mishap.

He keeps this up, his babies are gonna start being born already equipped with a walker.

evillol You know what they say about "old man's baby" being born looking like little old men.
