Chartlon Heston puts Ice T on blast!

You all remember this one LOL

Heston looked a fool on this one. Fuck him LOL. It's funny hearing him recite the lyrics to "Cop killer" though. It is not the full clip though unfortunately. I liked "Cop killer" back when I was young. Still like the song now actually, though I can only take the Body Count album in small doses. It's a well produced and catchy song LOL.

Iam still with Ice T on this one. Sorry Charlton

Yeah I know. I never liked him much as an actor anyway, but when I heard he was a gun nut and ralleyed against Ice T, that confimed my hatred for him LOL.

hmmm hmmm

a) this is when rap was actually rap (dangerous, smart, politically-driven, etc.), and some layers of the society were actually scared to death of it. It was not rage, it was FEAR evillol cool Funny how hip/hop-rap is just now a lame and tame shitty version for the radio. Rock is dead, oh yes, but you can bet Rap is dead too... confused

b) Heston was just one of those conservative OLD geezers that were, well, too OLD to understand what the hell was happenin' during the late-80s/early-90s. Rap was too modern for them. Hell, Heston was a man raised in an era when postmodernism and irony were not popular AT ALL. In the late-80s/early-90s Heston just couldn't understand that songs like "Cop Killer" or "Fuck Tha Police" were both jokes (with commercial hopes $ ) and an angry commentary about how racist and brutal (many) cops were/are (and so, they "deserved" punishment). Heston (and Bush Sr.) was sooooooo 50s/60s that he TRULY thought Ice-T meant those lyrics, word by word. As I said, he suffered from a lack of complete postmodernism...or sense of irony...Well, then again, most americans do...confused The late-80s/early-90s were certainly convulsed and violent years and old fashioned people like Heston or Bush didn't help at all...

c) This is the same crazy man who lost his damn mind when he was 65 years old and tried to bring back the Old West and its weapons... lol so his word his pretty much worthless for me... Anyway, I still enjoy Ben-Hur, 10 C and Planet of the Apes lol

Why do people always say that? He's just acting in a role. It's not like he went out and became a police officer in real life.

Gotta give Heston his props though. He wore a sandwhich sign that said "I Am A Man" as he marched for civil rights. Gotta respect that.

It doesn't "matter" what he did when he was younger, the fact is: he died like an old grumpy far-right bastard...

highfive He was down for the cause from Day 1 and did more for black folks, from a political putting your career/life on the line, than any of these knucklehead rappers. And a lot of folks don't know he was suffering from Alzheimer's which may explain some of his erratic behavior. That's still Ben-Hur, bitches!!!

True, but he also said nonsense like this;

In a 1997 speech, Heston rhetorically deplored a culture war he said was being conducted by a generation of media, educators, entertainers, and politicians against:

"...the God fearing, law-abiding, Caucasian, middle-class Protestant - or even worse, evangelical Christian, Midwestern or Southern - or even worse, rural, apparently straight - or even worse, admitted heterosexuals, gun-owning - or even worse, NRA-card-carrying, average working stiff - or even worse, male working stiff - because, not only don’t you count, you are a down-right obstacle to social progress. Your voice deserves a lower decibel level, your opinion is less enlightened, your media access is insignificant, and frankly, mister, you need to wake up, wise up, and learn a little something from your new-America and until you do, would you mind shutting up?"

In an address to students at Harvard Law School entitled Winning the Cultural War, Heston said, "If Americans believed in political correctness, we'd still be King George's boys - subjects bound to the British crown." He went on:

"The Constitution was handed down to guide us by a bunch of wise old dead white guys who invented our country! Now some flinch when I say that. Why! Its true-they were white guys! So were most of the guys that died in Lincoln's name opposing slavery in the 1860s. So why should I be ashamed of white guys? Why is "Hispanic Pride" or "Black Pride" a good thing, while "White Pride" conjures shaven heads and white hoods? Why was the Million Man March on Washington celebrated by many as progress, while the Promise Keepers March on Washington was greeted with suspicion and ridicule? I’ll tell you why, Cultural warfare!"

Heston later stated, "Political correctness is tyranny with manners."

On their face, I don't see anything wrong or inaccurate with what he said. Especially since he's not preaching white supremacy and, in fact, fought for racial equality most of his public life. shrug

I have to agree. He is not preaching white supremacy and people have to remember that he has changed his political views over the years and indeed has become more conservative. I think he went from being a Dem to a Rep - hell maybe he is independent by now. Conservative and right wing is not a bad thing as along as you are not crossing the line into racist/sexist/discrimantory loon politics. And the loons are on both sides.

I think this ole coot has had some of the best films any actor could hope to have. His ass looked fine as Moses (when he was in line to be Pharoah) and he made kissing Rosalind Cash look like it should be the law of the land. Omega Man is the shit! Liked his lil 5 minutes in Tombstone too. lol
