Probably not, but I need a larger one. Do any of you guys know why their capacity gets smaller. When I bought my 4gb Ipod in 2008 I could put 950 songs on it, now I can only put 180 on it, does anyone know why? So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I probably could live without my ipod, but I would not like to. I have a 160. I use it almost every day when I am out and about. Since I also got my smartphone I would not like to be without that either. I use public transport a lot, and to have music and internet on the bus is a huge plus.

If I were answering this question 10 years ago, I would have asked what is that? If I were answering this question 5 years ago, maybe, it's not that serious. Today, there is no way I could live without it. It has at a huge chunk of my music collection, and I never thought that I would have that much music in one device and so handy. It didn't take long for me to transition from physical transporting tapes or cds around to just a little device holding the tunes. My ipod is the classic 80GB and it couldn't be any smaller physically, because I would probably lose it numerous times. It's my baby. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

could be a difference in bitrate. or maybe you've got some large videos or pics in there somewhere.
or it could be that you had some kind of crash when synching and there's old stuff in there taking up space, but not showing up in the menus.
if you've still got all the stuff on your computer, restore the ipod software. it'll remove everything on there, and then you can add it again from your computer.
if it's a bitrate problem, where you're adding 320 or 256 kbps files, there's a setting in itunes now that will automatically convert things to 128 kbps aac when it's transferring to the iPod so that they take up less space on the player

Heck no. I have to have that thing around me when I'm doing dishes or baking or cleaning. I don't leave home without it, either. The only time I don't need it is when I'm at the computer, and I have my media player open...

I would never buy an ipod because they are such poor value.
I have an old AA battery sized MP3 player (1gb!) bought from ebay for the price of a CD which is still going strong after 5 years. It lets me change the battery, has a hard USB at one end, tells the me track names, has kicking bass and I "shuffle" on a gigs worth different tunes everytime. Stick in my skull candy head phones and I'm in music heaven.
My music collection is too big for any portable, so I don't try. .

Don't know if I agree with that. I can use my ipod damn near anywhere and with it's multiple formats, I have very few limitaions on sources of music. Car, house, truck, boat, plane.......and with diffrent playlists this thing is great.

I could. I have a few iPods, and I like them, but it wouldn't be hard to live without them. I listen to and buy CDs more than i listen to and buy digital songs/albums.

I can do all that with most MP3 players. My little cheapy can read WMA's OGGs and FLAC too and it doesn't try to force bloated buggy software on me. and I can change the battery whenever I want, rather than have to shell out on another overpriced unit.

I'm thinking of getting a 80gb or 160gb "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I have never owned an Ipod as of yet. First, I bought a cheap SanDisk or SansaDisk mp3 player. When I discovered that was not big enough, I got a Zune. And I'm loving my Zune HD. I almost got an Ipod because an Ipod seems to have more accessories. I love portable speakers and things like that and Zune hardly has nothing in regards to that. Although, if the speaker has a line in jack, that would work. Anyway, still with my zune. Love the software far better than the Ipod software.

I have a Nano but on my laptop it ate up my C hard drive and it lagged my computer. When I got my desktop two years ago I decided not to upload my Nano to my computer. [Edited 9/3/10 12:12pm]
