I think two of the best in the series of ciphers were KRS-One and Joe Budden. As for this one, I'd have to watch again, but I think I liked Black Thought's best. Liked Em's but it did have a lot of stuff that flowed well, but really made little sense.

Mos Def sounded the most natural, and had the best flow. Black Thought had the most clever lyrics and delivery. Eminems sounded over-rehearsed as usual, but that's JMO. "For those who know the number and don't call...Fuck all y'all"

Freestylin'. The equivalent of an actor reciting a script.

I doubt Mos Def, Black Thought or Eminem freestyled. As far as flowing on beat I gotta give it to Eminem, Black Thought had the most thought-provoking rhymes and Mos Def was the most melodic. KRS-1 is the only MC that actually freestyled. I know so because DJ Premiered, who DJ'ed the cypher, said during production of the Hip-Hop Award, several takes were needed to splice each cypher and pretty much everybody spit the same verse, thus it was not a freestyle. If freestyling is improvising rhymes and the spontaneity isn't there, it aint a freestyle. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

Interesting you say that, 'cause while I'd give it to Mos Def for sheer flow, I also don't buy that any of them actually freestyled. Sure, I can believe they came up with lyrics not long before they spit them out (and I disagree with others here as I think Eminem's lines, in their utter nonsense, seemed the most unrehearsed). But I don't believe the lines were off the tops of their heads. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

^ I'd only add that regardless of whether they actually freestyled or not, these MCs were FAR better than most of the MCs featured in other Cypher rounds. Of the others I've seen, the only featured MCs I'd put on this level are Joe Budden, KRS ONE (I'm with FauxReal there) and maybe -- to my surprise -- Cory Gunz.
