a-ha "ending on a high note" enters final 3 months of shows....talk of a future?

a-ha kicked off the final 3 month of shows (wrapping up December 4th) with a few shows at home in Norway at some festival gigs and yesterday in Bergen in front of 25,000. This portion of the tour will see larger venues, and take them to Russia,Spain, Germany (for the second time) then to Latvia,Lithuania and then on to the UK, before closing up with 3 huge shows in Oslo Norway.

The setlist was mostly unchanged early on in the tour but now the song order has been shaken up and a some different songs added and in different ways. Their current single "Butterfly Butterfly" is now part of an acoustic set, which includes the fan favorite "Seemingly Nonstop July" which has been added through fan requests. The Sun always shines on TV noew opens the show, the Fan Favorite "The Bandstand" which is from the last album, is back in the set full time, mid way through the show. It is unknown how much money this tour is bringing in due to currency and exchange rates but the US shows brought in close to a million which isnt bad for a band that hasnt had a chart entry there since 1988 or a release there since 1993, despite a few "online" chart entries, also considering the venues played in the USA only held 2200, the NYC shows alone brought in 300K.

In a recent interview Magne "MAGS" Furuholmen spoke about "future" works of a-ha "Though there wont be anymore albums or concerts, we have been approached on many fronts to do films utilizing our music, to do reissues of our catalogs, and things with this final tour in terms of dvd and cd" so clearly a-ha will be releasing quite alot of things in the coming years. That being said a-ha.com has just re-issued the out of print "Swing of thhings" book, this was a detailed bio on the band that first came out in 2004, only about 1000 were released in english, driving the ebay price up to $500, the book mainly is still out there in norwegian, but now is updated with all things after 2004, including final interviews with all members, the book has about 400 pages.

The recent interviews in that book clearly show that this "break" was not a 100% agreed thing, more like a Yes and NO and one member casting a final vote, despite that though, they did all agree on this 80 date tour through 2010, whcih will place them clearly in the top 2010 concert grossing events when all is said and done, so much for a one-hit wonder (by US standards).

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
