Irene Cara winning her Grammy in 1984

This was a great lineup that year. Christine McVie & Bob Seger presenting.

Even though I'm sick of the generic "Oh wow, ME?!" routine, it seems that she was genuinely surprised that she won lol

How about Anita Baker winning what I believe is her 1st Grammy in 1987. Again, incredible competiton in this category as well.

Almost zero suspense in Anita Baker's category since there was only one camera on her during the nominees. lol

Irene had just performed, that's why she was on the side of the stage.

Her vocals were on that night, but the music was a little corny.

Everytime I watch a clip of 'Nita winning an award, I can't help but to be reminded by what she said to Miki Howard when she won her Soultrain award disbelief lol

There are several ways to take that comment. Maybe Anita was saying that Miki would never cross over and be considered a Grammy contender, take this Soul Train Award and cherish it. Who knows.

Was Anita right though? lol
