I discovered him(Marshall Jefferson) through a compilation titled "The Original Chicago House Classics". Like your typical arrogant New Yorker, I thought "house music" came from us lol turned out that it was from the Windy City after all.

I read something somewhere saying that House music came from New Jersey!!!

I once knew a colleague from Detroit and she had no clue what Housemusic was....nor did she know that it was from Chicago. She also thought that R.Kelly was a misunderstood genius and that Housemusic is any kind of party music that you play in the house. lol

For the record House was from Chicago, Cats like Ron Hardy , Larry Heard,Adonis, Marshall, Knuckles, Kenny "Jammin" Jason, The Hot Mix 5 crew. All Godfathers of House. Cant forget Steve "Silk" Hurley, Chip E, Sterling Void,Virgo,Robert Owens,

I was mixing House Music Back in NY back when people didn't know what house was. Not saying i was the 1st. But It was just one of the early foundations of house.
