I love Donna Summer but I'm not excited about the prospect of a standards album from her.

That's okay. That only means you don't love her as much as some of the rest of her fans.

I wish some folks can just let it go, it was never proven she said anything demeaning to the gay community. I believe that "I'll pray for you" story but as far as I know she's never let go of the fact that had it not been for the gay community her career wouldn't have been as successful as it became. She clearly owes an debt to that audience.

I remember hearing about this via a newspaper article I saw somewhere. I didn't know whether or not to believe it or not, but I was naturally leaning towards not believing it. Eventually, I told myself that if she truly did say what she was accused of having said, that's her right and I would still continue to like her as I did. I mean, everyone has a right to believe what it is they believe whether I agree with it or not. Doesn't mean I don't like the person. Fortunately, Donna did a press conference and set it straight (pun intended)smile

I think I'm the only one here who's excited about Donna doing standards.

I like the way she's given new life to the covers she's done (studio or live):

The Way we Were, A Song for You, MacArthur Park, There Goes my Baby, I Will Survive, Smile, Could It Be Magic...

I love standards and I think she'd do a great job there. Besides (I know we fans know this), her voice would shine, as it has with every song she's done in her entire career.

Now, + a Dance Album, would be a dream!

So I would embrace both.

Thanx Donna.

biggrin

Me too, Tritoncin. Me, too. Let's hope they both come to fruition.

This standards CD had better be done with a full orchestra.

Thanx for this.

This is what I'm talking about!

Love Nature Boy!!!biggrin

I would kill for a duet by Donna and George Benson.

Hope she includes this track on the album.

I also would like to see there:

Summertime and A Song for you

Thanx again

I believe her. It's sad that she still has to respond to this rumour first and talk about new projects secondarily, but it just goes to show how much HIV & AIDS has devastated so many of us.

I'll be listening out for both projects. She has a beautiful voice - I mean, c'mon, one of Luther Vandross' first gigs was singing behind her ...
