Any Digital Underground fans in the house? Love DU. Didn't know until recently that Shock G is actually Morris Day's cousin. Pretty cool. Shock is one talented dude.

Shock has been slept on for far too long. He's easily one of the most talented and skilled producers in the history of rap and beyond. He's able to mix genres and sounds with the best of them all. Shame he hasn't ever received his due. He should be worth tens of millions.

I used to be a HUGE Digital Underground fan. Saw them perform back in the day with Naughty By Nature and Queen Latifah, when Tupac was still a part of the group (right after he made the movie "Juice"). But right around the time Digital Underground performed on "Showtime At The Apollo", I began to get the impression that Shock G. was a huge A-hole, and I haven't been able to shake that impression of him since. LOVED him as Humpty (didn't realize at first that Humpty and Shock G. were the same person, lol), and still love the music, but I'm not really into it the way I was back in the day.
Though I agree that Shock G. is very talented, he just eventually turned me off to the whole Digital Underground thing.

Not sure I agree. Seems more like talent wasted. Virtually everything he touched after "Body Hat Syndrome" has been weed-centric (to the point of obsession) and limp dick as far as the the funk goes.
Hard to top those first 3 albums, but Shock & the boys tanked post '93. Funk Is It's Own Reward

Love me some DU. Shock is definitely talented. Seems like half the characters on their early albums are actually him (Humpty, Piano Man, Blowfish). I just wish Shock (Greg Jacobs) wouldv'e stuck with the P-Funk influence they had in the early years. I agree that the post-93 output has been hit or miss. But I definitely enjoyed the heck out of "Who Got The Gravy?" in 98. It's a more enjoyable listen than Body Hat and Future Rhythm, not to mention, more consistent altogether. Saw DU on the Gravy tour in 98 and again in 99 or 2000. They put on a good show.

Although it's another "hit or miss" affair, "The Greenlight EP" (released this year) is worth checking out. "Greenlight" is a decent jam. Funk Is It's Own Reward

Me neither, I really must have dig in my crates for their albums, especially Sons Of The P. I played that album to death when it was first released. I would class these brothers as the rap wing of the mighty P-Funk.I was quite shocked to find out that Shock G and Humpty Hump were the same person!! Love these guys. Does anyone one know if their ''This Is An EP Release'' album is still available as it's the only one that I couldn't get a hold of?
