What would you do regarding the state of the mainstream music industry?

Here are some questions for all of you to answer:

What are you opinions regarding the current mainstream music scene these days?

Do you think the wrong artists are overly promoted?

What would you do to improve the music scene?

Do you think that mainstream music easily dies away because the music video scene is literally dead now on MTV

Well i think the thing that we often do is say what is wrong, but i dont often hear a way to overcome, or at least change the climate, that is what i would say this thread poses, the questions, rather than just today sucks yesterday was great.

But for the questions:

MAINSTREAM:

The Current Mainstream really doesnt exist, I mean if Kim Kardashian had an album she'd be a mainstream music artist, yes thats right. there lies a big problem, not with Kim, personally, but the thought process behind it. There isnt a system in place right now that can handle what is out there, there are tons of artists but about 5 get seen, thats a HUGE difference and notice i said SEEN that is key here.

PROMOTION:

I dont think the wrong artists are overly promoted i just think to few are promoted, as said before if this were the 80's you wouldnt have the amazing bands from then on the same "stage" so to speak, you couldnt have Depeche Mode, DUran Duran, u2, inxs, rem all at once, now only one would be seen.

HOW TO CHANGE

Reverse that mindset of marketing, just fire everyone that does business that way, wave goodbye or impliment changes and force change.

VIDEO??

Not really, and partially, its tough with this because the 80's created video, and yet, the image because of Videos took over and somehow that "look to be seen" took away and lessend the talent level, and also made carbon copies of artists to fit images.

And Once Again.....

Force the change, break it all down, get rid of charts, rid of radio monitors and airplay etc..start over from scratch and build over using the artists first, good and bad, promote every fucking thing equally and let the damn people decide, make them pick from a million choices, not 5

You have to READ. The Music: Non-Prince forum is chalked full of this type of discussion on a weekly, if not daily basis. Believe me when I say not everyone here is a fan of the radio today. It's hit n' miss at most, and most have been around just long enough to see the change in music and the industry over a few decades, and can give great comparisons and insights on that. Just stick around. Take the time to read through stuff. It's all here, in explicit detail.

Just cuz I haven't used this yet:
