How sad. When artists start remaking songs they've already recorded, it means either they are all washed-up or almost there. I just don't understand why she doesn't take a break? This CD is not going to sell, certainly nowhere near what her first Christmas album sold. I hate to say it, but, recording holiday songs with Jermaine Dupri and Teddy Riley??? She's going to be the laughing stock. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Remixing past efforts? Is she that desperate to win back the hearts of her old fans that abandoned her? She's done.

She needs to fuckin retire! Her voice is long gone and who wants to hear her strain and moan over some Christmas jingles? Just go have kids and maybe she'll grow up for once. Stevie Wonder = EARTH

But artists perform from their catalogs all the time! She obviously will be performing the song again because she wrote it and it is classic. Maybe she is a little bored with the original arrangement. Can't she record another Christmas album after 16 years? I am guessing if she is recording another Christmas album, it is pretty much a given that the classic song that she wrote is expected to be there in some sort of rendition. Certainly it would be one of the top requested songs when she is to go out and promote an album during the Christmas season.

well im the last to stick up for MC, despite being a fan, her past albums have been so interchangeable as far as direction and diversity, they have been nothing but one big long song, mid tempo that is. HOWEVER, artists do fucking Xmas albums all the time, im tired of hearing how people are done when they have made zillions and still are around 20 years after they started, apply that fucking term to people like Kesha and Justin Beiber who are in for about 6 months, anyway the whole music scene in this country is not relevant anyway, so what is she "washed up" from?

Agreed 100%, I'm not a hardcore MC fan myself or anything, but she's had a really really good career so far..She can make her Christmas song 100000 times over, it doesn't make her washed up or anything.
She has a really awesome voice and longevity to her career. You can't and will never say that about the manufactured pieces of crap like Kesha and Justin Beiber, at all. [Edited 8/21/10 17:53pm]

What's so wrong about Mariah rerecording "All I Want For Christmas Is You" again?
The Carpenters did the same thing with "Merry Christmas Darling" back in 1978 and no one said shit.
In fact, the 78 version is the one getting airplay to this day!

Yup she's pregnant As far as the Christmas album is concerned, if its a mature effort I wouldn't care.

Broadway Collaborator on New Mariah Album
Mariah has been working hard in the studio with producer Randy Jackson. She's even brought in an unusual collaborator: Broadway's Marc Shaiman, who wrote "Hairspray" and dozens of hits. Shaiman is also a five time Oscar nominee. This is really interesting since Shaiman could be fashioning some colossal material for Mariah. Whoever came up with that idea was really thinking outside the box. Shaiman most recently worked with Bette Midler on a great song about late producer Arif Mardin which appears on an album called "The Greatest Ears in the World." I wish more people could hear it.
Mariah told me in an email last week that Shaiman was her favorite collaborator since her days with Walter Afanasieff. "He's so talented and can hear the chords in my head." ABOUT MARC SHAIMAN Marc Shaiman won both a Tony and a Grammy Award for the score to the smash hit Broadway Musical Hairspray. He has been nominated for The Academy Award five times, for the films Sleepless In Seattle, The American President, The First Wives Club, Patch Adams, and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. In 2002, Marc was honored with the "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Music-In-Film" award at the 69th annual Hollywood Film Festival. Marc has composed, adapted and arranged music, served as music supervisor and written lyrics for over 40 other films, including When Harry Met Sally, Beaches, Sister Act, City Slickers, The Addams Family, A Few Good Men, In & Out and George of The Jungle.
