UNRELEASED From The Funk Queen, BETTY DAVIS

The most ferocious woman to ever set foot in a studio! The lady whom Santana claimed started the whole Madonna thing with the latter being merely cardboard cutouts compared to Betty!

These have been made available on the re-issues of her albums, back in '07-'09. I advise all to pick them all up, they are 4 of the greatest funk albums ever made.

This joint is an unreleased song that is available on her debut cd. Her debut cd is excellent

from start to finish.

Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Really? IMO, you can see why it's unreleased...but maybe i think that because i'm use to her flawless releases.

Glad the Betty love is spreading, she has a fascinating story you should look into. She is one of the most criminally underrated ladies in music.

I'm just trying to take embarrassing discussion off of Rhianna or GaGa videos, you know, and get back on real music, seeing as this is a Prince forum.

I'm gonna do a full on Betty thread one time, look out for it.

Right. Thanks to Light In The Attic Records, they got their long overdue re-release, complete with the 4th album from 1976 that her record label refused to put out at the time, Is It Love Or Desire.

I just so wish she did more. As Miles said, if she had carried on, she could of been a madonna or Prince (talking about impact).

Entirely unreleased ~ 1979 (her final recording days that we know of)

Other tracks circulating from the final sessions, but aren't on Youtube:

Hangin' Out In Hollywood

I Need A Whole Lot Of Love

All I Do Is Think Of You

Tell Me A Few Things

I've Danced Before

You Take Me For Granted

No Good At Falling In Love

You Make Me Feel So Good

Recorded during a depressing time for Betty in light of her fathers death, they are rough cuts and were planned to be finalised during happier times. Sadly, that never came to be and it is even said that she wasn't pleased with this new approach to her music and decided to ditch the project, Hangin' Out In Hollywood (Which included Herbie Hancock in the band and Pointer Sisters on backing vocals) and the industry for good.

The bootleg containing all the listed tracks is available to grab at good places.

Betty really got disillusioned with show business around this time. It showed on that record and subsequent others.
