Not so. the acting career of John Travoita was at an all time worst in the 1980's. The only thing that saved his career in the 1990's was Look Who's Talking? AND Pulp Fiction.

hmmm 'Urban Cowboy' was a huge hit movie in 1980 and if I'm not mistaken,'Look Who's Talking' came out in 1988.Sure,he had some flops in the 80s,but I don't think his career suffered from any disco backlash. He just picked some horrible roles lol

Well technically John flopped with the majority of the movies he did in the '80s. "Urban Cowboy" did well because John was still at that heartthrob stage in his career. "Look Who's Talking" did well because it appealed to kids not because Travolta was in it. "Pulp Fiction" was the film that brought him back on top.

I wouldn't say "Look Who's Talking" helped ressurect his career as far as seeming "pop" cool again to the public!

Pulp Fiction brought him back into the "cool" light.

There was a HUGE backlash from disco back in the early 80s. I was a white kid in jr high at the time, and THE slogan about music in the halls at school was Disco Sucks. I liked the Bee Gees at the time cause of Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, but would NEVER admit it for fear of getting my ass kicked. I remember later when I was in high school, around 85 or 86, and one of my friends finding the SNF soundtrack in my car and telling me "man, they are worse than Prince, what are ya fag"? I wanted to say "well yeah, but what does that have to do with anything?" And also I was like why are these guys hated so much??...they are great tunes!

Then I want to say around early 90s, I remember hearing Staying Alive at a wedding reception and people went nuts, disco dancing and shit...I was SO happy. I could come out of the closet as a Bee Gee fan!! (Coming out of the gay closet took a little londer wink)

there's a part in True Lies where the comic villain played by Bill Paxton is driving and jamming to the Bee Gees, and it's meant to show how uncool he is... I remember watching this and thinking how uncool James Cameron was.

I only found-out the other day that this is a Bee Gees song...

I've loved this song for years and never knew it was a Bee Gees cover.

Staggering to think that Robin and Maurice were only 18 when they wrote that album.

I'm fond of all four of their 60s albums, Bee Gees' 1st being my favourite , Odessa second fave.

"Sound of Love" is a favorite of mine. Etta James did a cover of it... I wish Aretha could have had a swing at it.

Forgot that one, it's a lovely track. I've never heard Etta's version of it though.
