Musical Youth? Hell, all I remember from them is "Pass The Dutchie" and their guest appearance on Donna Summer's "Unconditional Love". Unless they had a lot of underground stuff, how you gonna do an hour episode on those two songs? lol

One of the members of Musical Youth died years ago. For anything, the Unsung producers will definitely have the "price of fame" angle within the story.

Same with the Fat Boys. One of them died of a heart attack.

Looking forward to the Heatwave episode.

That's the only one on the list I'd be interested in seeing. I've heard so much about folks like George Clinton and The O'Jays throughout the years till I'm tired of hearing about them. And as for folks like Miki Howard, folks like that are the last people I'd be interested in hearing about unless they were really strung out on drugs or living some kind of wild lifestyle or something which I doubt because it sure doesn't show in their conservative ass music. lol

Miki had a long addiction to alcoholism and I think, I could be wrong, she dabbled in cocaine too.

Only successful for a short period. They didn't achieve near the success rap acts like Run DMC,

Beastie Boys, or LLCoolJ did. The FatBoys were done after the fluke hit Wipeout.

Uhh, they had more his than Wipeout and even stared in movies. They were very mainstream. the whole point of Unsung were acts that had the talent to become mainstream artist but weren't able to achieve success due to some Behind the Scene like drama.

The Fatboys just overstayed their pop welcome and crawled back into irrelevance. Listing Run, Beastie and LL is like expecting every pop act to achieve Madge, Prince and MJ levels of success. Not gonna happen.

Movies lol Yeah fucking Krush Groove and Disorderlies. Hardly collectors items.

Some of you got this Unsung thing all twisted up. Just like Behind the Music

you don't have to be strung out on drugs and shit just to be on Unsung.

Name me 10 major hits by the Fat Boys. Their run at success was not any

Compared to Run DMC and Public Enemy, does anyone think the Fat Boys' success was THAT massive?

They're like what a number of UNSUNG artists are: artists that came close to reaching the "ULTIMATE TOP" but something kept them down and then it spiraled to something else (death, depression, drugs, etc.).

George Clinton and the O'Jays are legend. Their asses are hardly Unsung

falloff

Didn't even see their names. This cable network needs to be shot off the airwaves. Mainly for their CEO and her horrible talk show but for screwing up what used to be a good concept for this show.

Blah Blah Blah Blah. Dude it's time to get off your soap box about TVone. It's gotten old.

I don't know anything about Cathy Hughes personally nor do i desire but the network has

been pretty good and a good draw for African American viewers. Unsung draws a lot of viewership

on it's on and has a good following on Facebook. Tom Joyner stated on his show that his phone

lines blew up after the episode with the BarKays. People are watching and if it doesn't include

you i don't think anyone will be crying a river. Go watch Bravo or something and quit whining.

I joked it should've been on Centric.

I don't like Cathy's motives but I'll still watch Unsung lol

Miki Howard had a relationship with Gerald Levert while they were

Knowing how their shit's an hour long, they'll probably make it a ten-minute story about her and Gerald.

Shucks, I'm still waiting on an episode featuring Kid n' Play.

I don't see how George Clinton is unsung but I can see a little of why the O'Jays are probably considered as such. They were R&B legends yes, but did they hit the mainstream? Isn't that what the show is about, the artists who deserved widespread international fame but didn't? confuse I'm starting to get confused on what this show is really about. I always thought it was about the artists who had a few hits but then you didn't hear from them anymore. I think I would have expected them to do an episode on the Gap Band before the O'Jays though IMO.

[Edited 8/18/10 4:58am]

They did with Love Train but nevertheless i think some of the personal setbacks like

losing member William Powell to cancer at the height of their success in the 70's

and Walt Williams longlife battle with MS which he just disclosed this year and the

death of Eddie's two sons add intrigue to their story.

George Clinton may be revered now but he was quite underrated in the mainstream, so were the O'Jays in a sense until '72. I don't think besides from us, people know about George's problems and of course I didn't know Walter Williams had multiple sclerosis. I knew of William Powell's condition and of course Eddie Levert's tragedy with the deaths of his two sons.

Yes i remember the Crushin album. I actually had the 45 to Fallin in Love with the

hilarious b side My Nuts but it eventually got broken. Wipeout pushed this album

to the sales it reached. The follow up Comin Hard Again fell hard again.

Sos, thanks for the pic of Mona Harrison! Anyway, Tammi Terrell and Heatwave are the only 2 I am interested in. The Fat Boys were never teetering on the edge of the big time, from what I gather-they were like a whole neighborhood away.

Teddy is unsung in a way in that he never really got anywhere near crossover success and his accident was tragic. That Mikki Howard ep is gonna put my ass to sleep.
