Wow, you know your shit! This is on my remastered Can't We Fall In Love Again CD and I love it!!! I love the lyrics and I just love the whole vibe. It's not as sad as most of her stuff...hehe.

Trivia: Jean Carne (the legendary!) actually sings one of the belts in the song because Phyllis was having trouble hitting it that day.

I've decided that I'm mad at you. I see you created a Jane Child thread a while back. You're creeping me out. wink

But in the meantime... More Phyllis.

Living All Alone (aka my theme music when I'm feeling particularly shitty about my status as a single woman...) The interview afterwards is especially telling and why I relate so much to her... I ain't even trying to get all personal, but yeah. I really really dig her, we're alot alike.

Harlepolis

Phyllis put some morphine into her version, which I can understand why it got shelved. The song's message is supposed to be uplifting, but Madame Hyman's voice conveyed a totally different message.

Yeah it's tragic. Chaka kept it upbeat.

It almost sounds like she's yelling at dude: "Sleep on it damn it!" wink

"Sleep On It" originally appeared on a disc called "Between the Pain and Heartache", which also contains other vault material and alternate versions of her songs. There still continues to be unreleased material from Phyllis sitting in someone's vaults. Gamble and Huff promised to issue an unreleased Phyllis album a couple of years ago and we're still waiting on it. confused
