I found a Shalamar album at Goodwill the other day. I have to admit, the first thing that popped in my head when I was looking at the picture of Micki Free was "Shalamar got this new girl, bitch fine like a mothafucka"

Love em....professionally & personally (cool peeps).

I'd skip the early stuff & the late stuff (sorry Mikki)..

Big Fun

Three For Love

Friends

The Look

IMO, those are the ESSENTIAL Shalamar joints. The rest is prolly for hardcore fans only.

Essential Shalamar albums and essential Leon Sylvers productions. In my opinion, Shalamar and many other SOLAR artists would not have had careers without Sylvers' touch. For the most part, his productions WERE the early SOLAR sound. The latter years shifted to Calloway brothers and La'Face sound (not a bad thing... but in hindsight, not quite as essential).

I have to disagree with you on that one. Even though Jody and Jeffrey Daniel's were already gone from the group Heartbreak is such a great album. That album is the bomb. Heavy new wave sound with with rock guitars at times. Love it. I think The Look and Heartbreak are the best Shalamar albums!!
