Color Me Badd

Seeing the 90s music thread has inspired to make a thread about Color Me Badd, so if there are any fans out there, come post your (positive) opinions about CMB

Remember, no negative stuff!!!!!!!

This is a nice video here

I always loved CMB. They're from my hometown of Oklahoma City, and most of the guys still live there.

My high school, and still current, friend Tracy P. is cousins with Bryan Abrams. I've talked to him on the phone, and email a few times. He's a really cool guy. I wasn't a huge fan of his solo album that he sent me. I think 3 of the 4 guys are touring as CMB again.

CMB was one of the earlier boy bands (1991), just like NKOTB (1987). They had their place in music, and had more than a one-hit wonder status.

There's a southern soul singer named Lacee that does a really good cover of "Sex U Up" (her way of typing it). Take a listen.

Say what you will, but you know every damn word to "I Wanna Sex You Up" and "I Adore Mi Amore". That says a lot for someone you supposedly hate.

GO SOONERS!

I'm ashamed to admit that I kinda liked this group. I love the harmonies at the beginning of I Adore... don't tell anybody. boxed

I still don't get how people consider liking music a "guilty" pleasure or they're ashamed to admit that they like something. Why ever be apologetic for your musical tastes?

I was only kidding really. But they were kinda corny tho, admit it. boxed

I make no true apologies for my musical tastes. I likes what I likes.

I liked "I WANNA SEX U UP" , "THINKIN' BACK", " I ADORE (MI AMOR)" too, but their "TIME & CHANCE" album, to me, is AMAZING. Especially the 2nd 1/2 : "CHOOSE" heart /"THE BELLS" worship /"WILDFLOWER" cloud9 /"LIVIN WITHOUT HER"/"CLOSE TO HEAVEN"/"TRUST ME"/ "LET'S START WITH FOREVER"... i can listen to that batch of songs endlessly. Bryan's vocals on WILDFLOWER are just extraordinary.

If U came 2 get your 'Purple Rain' on...U'RE IN THE WRONG HOUSE!!!!!!

Am I the only one in the world who owns and occasionally still listens to their follow-up to "CMB". "Time and Chance" is a better CD than their debut in my humble opinion and has a nice mixture of great pop songs and nice slow tracks. "Choose" was my absolute jam at the time and I played the hell out of "Close to Heaven" These dudes could sing but they were very much a product of a disposable time where a band had its 3 or 4 moments in the sun and went away quietly. Their third CD was weak, with only a few catchy songs, but I still think CMB was an underrated band.

Whenever someone mentions Color Me Badd, I think about the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Sega Genesis (Three of my favorite things as a little kid) smile So I can't help but like them. I still think this song is awesome.

Finally, you and I agree on something! nod

WTF is a Color Me Badd thread without making some comments on how a few lyrics in the song I Wanna Sex You Up doe NOT make any damn sense 20 years later?

EXAMPLE:

......we can do it 'til we both wake up

......making love until we drown

Umm, perhaps that last one means "drowning" in our passion for one another? It's a song. A liscense for playing on words is allowed.

No. I have it too and will listen to it. I think it was a mature follow up- Jimmy and Terry even produced a couple of tracks on it.

I do like "I Adore Mi Amor" though and "Sex You Up" introduce me to Betty Wright's "Tonight's the Night" (the live version).

Looking at that cover, I think I actually have that CD somewhere. I can hear Time and Chance in my head.. How did they break up? I remember it was a big deal here a few years ago when one of the NYC news anchorwomen filed a paternity suit against the lead singer and everyone found out he was working in a tire shop. That kinda sucks.

They were alright, and I was into them in 1991, even bought the album, but outgrew them within a year. Mainly as I had discovered Prince by then.

So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I didn't care for I Wanna Sex U Up at all. Mi Amore was meh.

I did like All For Love a lot but that's about it.

Somebody needs to do a Color Me Bad versus All for One thread.

That would be very interesting. lol
