That cat's a straight-up beast on guitar!!!! I almost wish I hadn't seen it. It has become my "Inception." It practically hurt my feelings, he played so well, and played so many songs.

Don't get me wrong. I think Prince is a wonderful guitarist, and he was a beast back when Wendy and Lisa and Dez, Andre and even Pepe showed him how to play everything.

Umm, I've seen DMB/Dave & Tim live over fifty times since 1994 (yes, I'm one of those). I absolutely love the mans songs and can think of very few bands I have ever enjoyed seeing live more. But the answer to your questions is a big giant HEEEELLLLLL NO!!! Neither could Tim Reynolds. But I really don't think this is a serious thread, anyway. At least, I hope it's not.

Again, not seeing the humor. I could post 1000 videos of his playing that a majority of guitar players couldn't copy without a great deal of practice. So he doesn't do big solos, so what? Doesn't mean what he plays is simple, or easy. Not really trying to make a big deal out of it, either. As you can see, my answer (as a DM fan) was a big giant hell no! But that doesn't make him a douchebag. Being a douchebag has nothing to do with how somebody plays guitar. Nonsense like that is why I didn't say anything else on the John Mayer thread. Insults don't make an opinion - they just make you look like an uninformed ass.

Dave? His acoustic chops are serious. I'd love to hear Prince do a song with an intricate acoustic riff like DM's "Stay or Leave." Dave excels in that field. Haven't heard P do anything like that.

Though, on another recent thread, that's usually dismissed as a difference in style instead of an inability to do so.

Tim Reynolds is a bad, bad cat. I'd put the two at about even. Though, again, I've heard far more unencumbered wizardry out of TR than I have from P. Tim's extremely creative.

Sadly Cerebus, Prince.org has become a place where some try to put down every single other artist (doesn't matter who they are) to make Prince seem better (Which you don't have to do people, Prince is great without your help). They'll say anything to put someone down, just ignore them what matters is what you feel about it yourself.

I agree If you don't know the person, or your uninformed about them, don't just spew out hate towards someone.

And more to the point, what if he is the biggest douchebag on Earth? How would that have anything to do with his guitar playing? A lot of people seem to take issue with the way Prince treats others, yet they still enjoy his guitar playing. Let me break it down further. "I don't like Prince because he's gay." How many times has that been said? Well, we know he's not gay. And why should that affect anybodies opinion of a persons art? It shouldn't. Right? Commenting on DM guitar playing by calling him a douchebag is no different. It makes your opinion laughable. It you want to be laughed at, please, carry on. Different players totally, technically and the music they do, the only way to compare players or singers is have them do the same exact song and solos.

Dude it is not that deep. Loads of people do not like DMB. In fact I really do not know anyone that likes them and I do not know of Dave being known as some beast of a guitarist and with the recent stuff P has being doing live you cannot be shocked that some people think this is a joke thread.

YOU don't know anybody who likes them? Oh nos! Well that must mean NOBODY likes them. They're one of the most succesful touring acts of the last twenty years. They do HUGE succesful tours EVERY YEAR. Their record sales FAR outweigh Prince's since 1993 when they first broke big (more than 30 million). Clearly, nobody likes them.

Stop talking nonsense and try to actually process what people are typing before responding. I NEVER SAID Dave Matthews was a better guitar player. I AGREED that Prince is a better guitar player than Dave Matthews. But Dave Matthews plays some incredibly difficult acoustic guitar parts as the basis of their songs and he does so with ease.

And you can't figure out why your being ripped a new asshole over this topic. I think your attitude that you like Dave Matthews, millions of the masses like him therefore, everyone on this board must agree with you should explain the response you have received.

Many many times orgers on this board have expressed their dislike for Dave so when I say I do not know anyone that likes him I can include a lot of orgers in that equation.

One of the orgers told you they had a bad personal experience with Dave therefore that think he is a douch based on their experience.

I never typed anything about Dave being better or worst as an acoustic player and your topic does not mention anything about "acoustic playing". You put it out the question Can DM school P on the guitar? You received the hostile responses from your post.

Learn how to debate a topic without getting a bug up your ass when people do not agree with you.
