George Michael arrested AGAIN.

Pop icon George Michael was arrested Thursday in London in connection with possession of cannabis and driving while "unfit through drink or drugs," RadarOnline.com has learned.

The Father Figure singer, 47, was subsequently released on bail.

Michael -- who shot to international fame in the 1980s as a member of the duo WHAM! with Andrew Ridgeley -- has had numerous run-ins with the law.

Just last month, he crashed his car into a building in Hampstead, North London, and was charged with driving under the influence.

In 2008, the star was arrested after being caught in a public toilet in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.
The previous year - in 2007 - Michael was arrested in the UK connection with "unfit driving through tiredness and prescription medication," which got him a two-year ban from the road.

But perhaps, without a doubt, his most infamous arrest came in 1998 in Beverly Hills when he was busted for sex from an undercover police officer in a public restroom.

He's due to answer to the latest charges August 24 at London's Highbury Corner Magistrates Court.

London, England (CNN) -- Singer George Michael has been charged with possession of cannabis and driving while unfit through drink or drugs, London's Metropolitan Police Service said Thursday.

Michael, 47, was released on bail and told to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court in north London on August 24, police said.

Police did not say what led to the arrest, but Michael -- whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou -- was widely reported to have been involved in an accident in the early hours of July 4, in which he allegedly crashed his car into a north London photo shop.

Michael was found guilty in 2007 of unfit driving through tiredness and prescription medication and received a two-year driving ban, according to British media.

He was arrested again the following year near Hampstead Heath park in north London and cautioned for possession of a controlled substance, according to news reports.

I'm a big fan but this guy needs to be thrown in jail and serious years of therapy and maybe some meds. Something isn't right with George's choices. And with all the $ his fans will be shelling out for the re-release of Faith, it should be more than enough to pay FOR A DRIVER.

I love George and his music is totally included on the soundtrack of my life.

Either way, guy needs some serious long-term help FAST.

Lock him up and throw away the key till he gets help. LOTS OF IT.

Seriously...I really want to know. Are there no taxi cabs or chauffeurs in London?

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

He needs to leave London...and let Kenny just handle things from now on. It's obvious the way he's going on he's gonna hurt himself or someone else though he probably never intended to. I'm sure one day he'll find peace and happiness. It seems like he has been uninspired for a long time.

It is obvious behind his straight facedness and humor in interviews, that beneath the surface he is really, really, deeply suffering and has been for a very long time.

Who knows what those inner demons are that are pushing him in this direction??

Seeing someone so blessed as he is with his musical gifts, just self sabatoging themselves like this is heart breaking.

I hope he heals.

He should come to Canada, in all seriousness get out into the nature and just get away from everything..

Relax and recover George!

George Michael is such a sad case. He totally ruined his career with his destructive lifestyle. Between him and Charlie Sheen, I don't know who has been given more chances to clean up their act... disbelief

Obviously or somewhere where his mind is not thinking about weed. confused He'd probably do time like Marrk just said. He's been warned too many times.

I'm thinking he's not thinking straight. He seems to be OK. Seems to be I said, we don't know what goes on behind closed doors but he seems to be a happy individual even with the drugs and blowjobs with strangers.

I agree with a lot of what other people have said. But a couple things are really sticking in my mind.

Are they just seeing George driving down the road and pulling him over on the CHANCE that he'll have drugs on him, or that he's "unfit to drive"? Or did he actually do something this time to warrant being stopped?

The other thing is that while cannibus may be illegal, that alone should not be enough to make you drive in a manner that would get you noticed. Maybe if he had been up for several days, or doing something else with it. Pills, alchohol, coke... whatever. I mean, maybe dude was driving along with the windows down and a fat joint in his mouth. The article that's linked to up above doesn't actually say.

Whatever. I agree with the people who say he needs some jail time. This is just too much. Too many chances. And if he doesn't get jail time he definitely needs to get out of London for a while. Head out to the countryside where he can drive around without being noticed. lol

Right!? But I don't know what laws he's dealing with over there. I know if he was in the states chances are pretty good that he'd have done time AND never be able to get a license again. Ever! lol

You forgot to add Robert Downey, Jr. to that list too. Though he's the only one that seems to be doing well right now. I don't know what's up with George these days..but it's obvious that he doesn't deserve anymore chances. Maybe it's like what Timmy said, maybe he's at the point at not giving a fuck about his life anymore.

I want him to do time and get some serious therapy at the least, because I'm afraid if his patterns continue, we are going to lose a seriously talented musician. It's so sad because his life has been touched with so much tragedy, and I am just seriously hoping, he can somehow pull it together.

I'm in George's corner, but him getting off easy clearly isn't working.

My guess is that he acts the way he does because he's "George fucking Michael" and he is just as drunk on his own sense of self-importance as a celebrity as any intoxicant he may be taking this week.

Laws are for little people who don't have the money to buy their way out of trouble.

He's proven that over and over and each time he's successful at avoiding jail time it just reinforces the myth of celebrity invincibleness.

Let's see what happens this time.

Dude likes his intoxicants and his public bathrooms after dark. Maybe part of the thrill is that he might get caught... and if you crash your car that's pretty much a given.

Interesting behaviour pattern to say the least.

Ima get the new remastered Faith though. It will always be a masterpiece no matter how far down his personal life falls.

Ow George... sad

This really does sadden me, The past year i have become a huge fan and before i was i knew more about your run in's with the laws, Then your music which is sad....

This guy has inner demons as everyone said, He need''s help he's smart he need's to quit being a dick and accept that fact he's a f..k up. Elton John tried to help him and told him your sick. And people said Elton was just sticking his nose in his business and being a little whiny queen?

Elton's been through this he can help the guy.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
