I think I recalled this briefly but I've never heard anything from it. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off |

I've never heard the album either. I've seen it in stores though.
It amazes me how many people love this guy. I don't understand his appeal. |

Why don't you care for his music? I think he's extremely talented. I don't know if you saw my thread a couple of weeks ago on him, but I saw him live at the BB Kings Blues Club in NYC and he highly impressed me. If he was still mainstream, I think he would be ahead of Robin Thicke. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |

I think what bothers me about his music is that it seems "forced" (as for his singing) and his songs are a bit bland to me. I had 3 of his albums and I just didn't like them.
You mentioned Robin Thicke. I think Robin is a natural talent and is a really good songwriter and instrumentalist. Jon (to me) is just not on the same level. Robin has a certain sensuality about his music that is RARE to find in blue-eyed soul. I think that is why he blew up so big with "Lost Without U".
When Stevie Wonder had his radio show on KJLH, he played "Lost Without U" one morning and mentioned how rare it was to find a "white guy" with that much soul. He pointed out that Robin's phrasing and melodies were very natural and said he was a lot like Marvin musically on his ballads. |

Well while I do like both of them, I'm inclined to agree to disagree with you. I too felt a little bit about how you feel about Jon B. but after I saw him live, it really changed my mind. I had always felt that Jon was talented but Robin could sing circles around him....that all changed when I saw Jon singing live and seeing his style and his flow...he really did seem natural to me and not forced. In an ironic comparison, I feel that Robin's current CD contains music that is "forced" and not really that of his natural being as with his first 3 cds. I saw Robin live last year and wasn't impressed. Sure he could sing, but he had trouble hitting the high notes, and don't get me started on that silly dancing he does. But when I saw Jon two weeks ago he literally and I mean literally blew my mind. He played some of his new music and he has me curious and thirsty for more of him. I have to say, Jon's set at the BB King's Club was more enjoyable and fulfilling than when I saw Robin in concert a year ago. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |

I've seen him live before (when the Cool Relax project was hot) and I thought he was ok at the time. I'm sure, by now, he has really gotten better. I also got to meet him after the show. He didn't really have anything to say to the guys. He was more interested in my co-worker at the time. He even told her the hotel and room number. He was much shorter than I expected.
The last material I heard from him was the Helpless Romantic project. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't that crazy about it.
I agree with u about Robin's latest project. I like some of the songs, but it doesn't compare to his previous projects. |

I like both of them but have only seen Robin live and I do prefer Robin over Jon for reasons that may or may not have anything to do with music. I definitely like his falsetto (when it’s good) and I think he’s more creative than Jon.
Why does everyone crack on Robin’s dancing? He’s no MJ but to me it means he’s really feeling the music and enjoying himself. He doesn’t care about having flashy choreography and doing the latest dance. He’s just letting the music take him and doesn't care what people think. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off |

Well that is true. Marvin couldn't dance either so I feel ya on that. I don't know, I think it's his album material that throws me off. He can do better than what he's doing. |

Yeah, he’s starting to slip a little. Maybe putting out a little too much too soon. He could have taken a couple of tracks off each of the last 2 discs and made one decent album. And if he’s (still) smoking he needs to stop. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off |

I think Robin is trying to fit into this r&b mold and I think he's bigger than that. |

Someone should tell Mr. Thicke that the "R&B mold" he's trying to fit in is not R&B. |
