That last reply didn't exactly answer the question, did it?

Well no, it didn't. But like, how old are you? Because most people over thirty are pretty familiar with their music. And quite a few more are aware of the play and movie filled with (based on?) their music. I'm pretty sure they're one of the single most popular groups in the history of modern recorded music. So it is kind of an odd thread title. Jus' sayin'.

Most people under 30 who are at least in their teens have heard of ABBA.

Boney M has definitely been brought up here a lot in the past. I would bet Squirrelgrease's money that more people than you think have heard of them.

It's one thing I do enjoy about the Org, is the vast array of people's musical knowledge, and history with it. You can always learn something about music in general on the Org. For me, it's not only an enlightenment to music I've missed over the years (like Lyn Collins - straight up missed the girl for years), but it also acts as a reminder of things I've forgotten about out. You know, simple out of sight, out of mind sorta thing. It's always fun to have one of those "Oh man, I remember that!" sorta moments w/ music.

This may have been a regional phenomenom, but I'm pretty sure just about every rec room in western Canada had an 8-track copy of Nightflight to Venus back in the late 70s. I remember loving it because the electronically distorted vocals on the first track sounded like the cylons from the original Battlestar Galactica.

Rasputin still gets a regular airing at dances & clubs here.

Boney M's less well known, but pretty much anyone who's been to a gay club is going to hear a remix of Rasputin sooner or later.

I think the musical Mamma Mia has also helped make Abba popular again too in the last 10 years so many people know of them.

The message you are about to hear are not meant for transmission. Should ONLY be accessed in the privacy of your mind. Words are so intense so if you dare to listen.Take off your clothes and meet me between the lines. wildsign
