Check this out:

This was filmed a few months back and she killed it!

Her new CD "Love Is On The Way" comes out this fall (supposedly). Not sure what label. I've only been waiting 18 years, but that's fine. It's going to be R&B covers and jazz standards. The title cut is a Billy Porter song.

I was shocked to find out she's had multiple sclerosis for 15 years now. She's also been clinically depressed for 20 years. Poor thing. sad

When I saw that clip of Jennifer Holiday, I could not even believe that it was the same woman. I heard about the weight loss, but I would not be able to identify Jennifer if you had a gun to my head. Her voice sounded amazing in the OP's clip. The only critique that I've always kinda had about her was sometimes she holds notes a little to long to showcase, and it feels over the top. But the woman is fabulous. Check out the drastic appearance pic, and this clip was filmed AFTER she lost a significant amount of weight. She was once even heavier. Hated those shoulder pads of the 80's. This is just for the visual, and not for the sound.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

She looks great, she sounds wonderful! It may be just me, but I noticed when she first lost a great amount of weight, she started doing funny things with her mouth when she was singing. I looked at both of these videos and I can still see it in the new one. It sort of bothers me to watch her sing now. Maybe I'll just listen, huh?

Actually, it irritates the crap out of me, but I didn't wanna seem like a hater so I didn't say anything. She does not need all of the gimmicks she can really sing. Stop doing Al Jarreau impersonations and those long snoozefest note holds and just do the damned thang.

I think there's a part of Jennifer that still sees herself as the full-figured woman who first wowed them in Dreamgirls where it wasn't that obvious. I guess things get harder to come by when you drop your weight. I don't think her fans care though. It's kinda her trademark now.

The Al Jarreau mention made me laugh (BTW, I hope he's ok now!) I took a friend of mine with me to a Jarreau concert years ago, her first, my 50th (well, not really, but I had seen him many times) and he was driving her crazy! She kept asking me, "Why is he doing his mouth like that?" All I could say was, "That's just him. Ever since I've been going to see him, he's always sung like that!" wink

Thank you for posting! I LOVE Miss Jennifer Holliday. I had the privilige of seeing her do her Once Act show about Bessie Smith in New york. no mic. small bleacher seats. It was like witnessing a miracle to hear her live.

I am Changing is actualy the better song vs. I'm Telling you. This is great. (though a full ban would've made the song for those who haven't heard it you ahve to hear the original).

SHe has MS??? Wow. that would explain why her show never got finsihed. I love her so much. I met her after a Dreamgirls show in Atlanta and she stayed and signed every person's autograph.

I hope she knows how many people lover her and really think she is a special person. .
