Was Joe Jackson a brilliant manager?

Do you think Joe Jackson was a brilliant Manager?

Although MJ was a never 100% normal mentally and emotionally, I believe that Joe Jackson did a good job at preventing Michael from ever ending up in trouble in his professional career and on the personal front, when Michael was still with his brothers.

Once Michael got away from him and began managing his own career, I believe it all went downhill from there with all the painkillers, plastic surgery nonsense, bad era publicity team stories, and the allegations. All those leeches never manage to stop bugging him. mad

I would give Michael 0/10 in terms of how he presented himself to the media. He alway wanted to to fuel the press and make the press think of him as eccentric and mysterious, instead of as a normal human being. When Joe handled Michael's career, he never promoted Michael in an eccentric way- he presented his children in the most normal way, and he was good at keeping MJ's mind grounded. In fact in my opinion, those were the best years for Michael in his overall career- during his time with the Jacksons.

No. Besides his sons, he didn't manage his daughters real well. Well Janet but his success with her was really short lived (remember the Fame fiasco).

Also, shouldn't this be here?

Okay in the later years maybe not, but I was referring the Jackson 5 and Jacksons era.

Yeah I guess this question sort of fits in to the Jackson family thread.

^ Ya think? lol

Besides Berry Gordy looked after their early career after they signed to Motown. Joe had help. Gordon Keith, whoever was co-managing them before signing to Motown, Bobby Taylor, Gladys Knight. Katherine.
