I'm stuck between getting the limited and special editions. The only difference between the 2 is the replica vinyl of Faith and about 20 missing pics from the book and some random promo things. It's much cheaper to buy an actual LP of Faith from Amazon and I'm sure the pics not in the special edition box won't be hard to come by online. I really think I'm going to get the special edition.

disc 1

  • 1. Faith
  • 2. Father Figure
  • 3. I Want Your Sex [parts 1 & 2]
  • 4. One More Try
  • 5. Hard Day
  • 6. Hand To Mouth
  • 7. Look At Your Hands
  • 8. Monkey
  • 9. Kissing A Fool
  • 10. Last Request, A [I Want Your Sex part 3]

disc 2

  • 1. Faith [instrumental]
  • 2. Fantasy
  • 3. Hard Day [Shep Pettibone mix]
  • 4. I Believe When I Fall In Love
  • 5. Kissing A Fool [instrumental]
  • 6. Love's In Need Of Love Today
  • 7. Monkey [7" edit]
  • 8. Monkey [a capella]
  • 9. Monkey [Jam & Lewis remix]

disc 3

  • 1. Interview [DVD/dialogue]
  • 2. Music Money Love Faith [electronic press kit/DVD]
  • 3. Promo Videos [video/DVD]

it's a bit underwhelming isn't it. the first disc is shorter than the original disc as hard day shep mix is on disc 2 instead, meaning disc one is abotu 52 mins long and they could have put another 18 mins of music on there

the other thing that annoys me is the running order of bonus discs so they aren't in a good flowing order. i would have put fantasy, i believe and loves in need (even though the last 2 are live tracks) on the end of the first disc so you have a full disc worth of different tracks. then i tend to stick instrumentals together too, so second disc i wouiild put monkey (jam&lewis), hard day (shep), faith (inst), kissing a fool (inst), monkey (7") and monkey (acapella). if i had to keep disc 1 the same i would start with i believe, loves in need, fantasy, then the order i just mentioned, so it starts with the live tracks, then studio then just 2 repeated songs at the end. surely they could have pulled something else interesting to stick on it

i wonder if they will put the south bank show official vhs on the dvd of listen, as that's a pretty good documentary of the making of the album, broadcast just as the album was being released, but given an official vhs release too, never out on dvd officially

yeah, i've already got the record, and most people don't want records these days. it's not the fucking 60s anymore. the 80s was the CD era and this was one of the defining 80s albums and 80s CD's, so wtf wants a record? it's not some indie cult album or dance record. no-one says the 808 drum machines used on the record feel warmer with the added crackles and pops that weren't intended

and did you notice the comment about the "exciting" download releases? the only thing thats exciting about downloads is getting them for nothing instead of paying $140 for a box set full of crap that will gather dust somewhere

I always wondered why a Volume 2 was never made. It was a little odd to release a CD claiming it to be Vol. 1,but then never release any coinciding CD after that. hmmm

it was made, with vol 1 supposed to be something like "for the mind" and vol 2 "for the feet" with a more danceable selection of songs. but vol 1 didn't sell as well as GM hoped, and he blamed sony for giving up on the marketing after something like six months, but sony felt that six months of advertising for an album that wasn't selling well was enough, and also blamed GM for not starring in his video for the lead track freedom 90 which featured supermodels miming the words isntead. so vol 2 ended up being shelved, but 3 tracks finally ended up on the charity album red hot and dance and too funky was released as a single with another video that didn't star GM

then GM went in the huff with sony, wrote "knob" on his face with a sharpie and refused to record anymore albums until the period of his contract expired, but released a few singles featuring live tracks of mostly covers of songs he performed during various charity shows such as the queen tribute show and nelson manedela tribute show(they won't go when they go on the cd album is actually from that show with overdubs added)

one of the songs "happy" was released as a b side or something and was also rerecorded for the ladies and gentlemen album (UK and US tracklistings of that compilation are different - the US freaked as they didn't want to associate mary j blige with a newly outed gay artist)

So was Crazyman Dance suppose to be one of the songs on Vol. 2?

I don't understand what company controls those performances/releases, or if GM himself is holding it back.

I'm so disappointed.

Why didn't they just leave the orginal nine tracks on CD1 and put the I want your sex manogamy mix on disc two?

And Fantasy???? Unless its an unreleased mix, then that's a cheek as it was recorded in November 89 in the Listen Without Prejudice sessions. It wasn't even a b-side until Freedom 90.

Sony Music and George Michael's management have decided to postpone the release of the re-mastered "Faith" album. A new release date will be forthcoming. For those fans that have purchased the Limited Edition Box Set from GeorgeMichael.com, receipt will be subject to a delay until the new release date has been set.

This was just posted on Facebook about an hour ago.

The older CD version of 'Faith' is now out of print and discontinued...so I guess they are prepping this remaster.
