lol He even looks a bit embarrassed on that pic like he's saying:

"I didn't want to do it. My manager thought it was a good idea"

IKR? lol It's like "well here I am... don't buy this. You didn't know I sang anyway." lol

Andrew REALLY didn't wanna be a music star like George so I don't blame him for leaving the industry after this album.

He didn't wanna compete against his friend. biggrin

Like there would have even been a competition!! lol

I always wondered why a Volume 2 was never made. It was a little odd to release a CD claiming it to be Vol. 1,but then never release any coinciding CD after that. hmmm

it was during the time of George vs. Sony. and i remember reading something about him wanting to move on with newer music after that fiasco.

shrug

but i think NOW would be a perfect time to release it. biggrin

it was made, with vol 1 supposed to be something like "for the mind" and vol 2 "for the feet" with a more danceable selection of songs. but vol 1 didn't sell as well as GM hoped, and he blamed sony for giving up on the marketing after something like six months, but sony felt that six months of advertising for an album that wasn't selling well was enough, and also blamed GM for not starring in his video for the lead track freedom 90 which featured supermodels miming the words isntead. so vol 2 ended up being shelved, but 3 tracks finally ended up on the charity album red hot and dance and too funky was released as a single with another video that didn't star GM

then GM went in the huff with sony, wrote "knob" on his face with a sharpie and refused to record anymore albums until the period of his contract expired, but released a few singles featuring live tracks of mostly covers of songs he performed during various charity shows such as the queen tribute show and nelson manedela tribute show(they won't go when they go on the cd album is actually from that show with overdubs added)

one of the songs "happy" was released as a b side or something and was also rerecorded for the ladies and gentlemen album (UK and US tracklistings of that compilation are different - the US freaked as they didn't want to associate mary j blige with a newly outed gay artist)

'Hard Day' (the original)...was and is to this day a serious funk jam...as was 'I want your sex'..he really hit on something with those tracks...tell me u didn't bop yo head 2 'em...

The album was a classic...not dated at all...despite the fact the title track 'Faith' (music and video) was derivative of...u know who...

George Michael always worked hard as an artist...(I was a serious Wham! fan)...sang as best he could, made some good classic pop songs...had standards back then...he had to, considering the peers he was up against.

I recall reading an article around the time Chaka Khan's Epiphany: Greatest Hits Volume 1 came out about how adding "volume 1" to an album title is the kiss of death for an artist. It sited Earth, Wind and Fire and George Michael as examples of artist going downhill after their releases. lol
