I'm so grateful (a lot of us) were alive in the "Dangerous" and

"HIStory" eras of Michael's career because Michael really

opened up during those times in his life, and shared a wealth

of knowledge on how he viewed the world, himself, and others.

I was watching the "Motown 25" performance of "Billie Jean"

and I'm so grateful that Diane Sawyer asked Michael in 95,

"What he was thinking?" and Michael said, he wanted

to do the spins and land on his toes and stay there. I love having

little glimpses into Michael THE PERSON and how he viewed things.

Along those same lines - I love (as awful as the Bash*t documentary

was) that Michael shared his taste in art, culture, and we got to see

a glimpse into what he truly loved about pop culture.

Clearly from these notes we are being reminded what a

deep PERSON Michael was and hopefully the legacy for Michael

the person will stand alongside the legacy for Michael the artist.

I love that the fans and even Michael's family are doing things to

remind the general public was a kind person Michael was during his

lifetime.

He wasn't just this talented artist - he was a caring soul. He is on

the books for being the person who has donated the most to charity.

I'd like to see this continue to be discussed...Michael the person.

I know several fans have stories as well as memories of Michael the

person. There were reasons that Michael's fans were/are so loyal, and

so much of that is based on..Michael the person. Sure, he was a complex

guy, and sure some will say, "His fans didn't know Michael" but I beg to differ.

During his interviews, Michael could explain away almost anything, because

he was a fairly normal guy and kind...to a fault. One of his biggest flaws was

probably just that he was too kind and didn't have good enough

boundaries around who he let into his world.

He was smart. He was kind. He was a good father. A good friend to those

who truly knew him, and a fantastic role model to those who took the time

to understand him beyond the tabloid/media bullshit and even beyond

the performer we all knew so well.

Vanilli what you've written is so amazing and true. Though I generally liked him since the 80's from afar when played and cause of a toy I had, sometime in the mid 90's, I just latched onto suddenly wanting to know all about him before I realized I was subconsiouly doing it; and after a mini hiatus cause of things being too quiet before picking up again, I got very very attached and things were getting chaotic in life then so he was escapism from all that

Gotta admit (probably again), that I love "Elizabeth, I love you". The chorus is so damn catchy. Yes its cheesy, over the top and very theatric, but thats why I love it I guess. His voice sounds great on it aswell. "or whatever LOL. Love the middle 8 which leads into the rousing chorus. ("You reached your peek..."). And the end is so gloriously OTT. Love it all!

He obviously lyp-synched the only clip of the song (off E. Taylor tribute), despite it sounding live, so I had to rip it off youtube years ago, but its OK sound though. I wish Michael would of explored his theatrical side more often as he seemed, from the few examples I have heard, to be very good at it.

"....Your every star that shines in the world to me".

I love "The Lost Children" aswell, so Iam pretty left field for a MJ fan, but Iam sure Iam the only one who loves "Elizabeth, I love you" lol

are you silly? lol I love that song, ever since I first recorded it that night, I was soooo excited! I remember thinking that other r&b artists of that time (though I looooooooooved them so much then unlike now) weren't doing anything like him at all and I respected him so much for being different. I love the way it's composed and the progression of the song and build up and melody. And that ending with the lighting, hair and that longgggg note, I would try to hold it too for as long as I could and couldn't do it then though I find it easier now. And he was so soft when he said I love you more to Elizabeth, I didn't know what he was saying, cause it was my first time hearing him say that and unusual, but soon learned it's his catch phrase and caught on smile I also remember a comedian bringing up mj and "singing" bad and grabbing her crotch and mj cracking up in the audience, I wish I still had that on tape, I only had the Entertainment Tonight recap of that, but I was picky about not wasting space cause we had two vcr's and I kept a system.

"Welcome to Hollywood, thats what they told you". Michael loved old Hollywood and genuinely seemed to love Liz Taylor. He even bought the best pic oscar to "Gone with the wind", one of my favourite films, which was pretty cool.

"Remember the time when I was alone

"Let's be strong"
You did all these tings
That only a true friend can do..."

I wonder if those lyrics were about Liz standing by him during the 1993 molestation case? I bet he wrote the lyrics alone to this song (I think the song is credited as Mike and Buzzy Cohen-who did "gone too soon").

Very unusual for Mike to do something exclusive like "Elizabeth, I love you". He did it for Sammy Davis Jr, but Liz's song was like a whole huge west end production number LOL.

I really do love it LOL.

You are DEFINITELY not the only one lol

The first verse is live. Part of the studio track leaked a couple of months ago and without the audience, it's sounds better biggrin

New screenshots for Michael Jackson: The Experience plus a Q&A

  • August 18th, 2010 10:35 am
Michael Jackson: The Experience
Photo: Ubisoft

Fresh from GamesCom in Germany comes new screenshots and information on the upcoming Kinect enabled game for the Xbox 360, Michael Jackson: The Experience. Along with the new screenshots we also have a Q&A with the Michael Jackson Estate about the game.

Michael Jackson: The Experience utilizes Kinect's ability to track the body's movements while you sign along using the microphone. If you're worried that your voice won't be able to match the King of Pop's, no worries. The game features technology that includes real-time professional audio enhancers, so your voice will be given the golden treatment to make you sound better than ever.

The combination of singing and dancing will enable players to trigger effects, visuals and even the music itself as they move around the digital environment.

Michael Jackson: The Experience launches on November 18, 2010. Check out the screenshots in the upper right and the Q&A with the Michael Jackson Estate below and let us know your thoughts of this Michael Jackson title.

Why did you choose to work with Ubisoft on this project? What was it about the game/technology that was appealing?
Michael was about pushing technological limits to give his fans the most memorable experiences imaginable. Michael Jackson – The Game is an innovative and creative way to bring families and friends together to enjoy his artistry in a way that hasn’t been done before.

How are you involved in the development of the game? Did you meet the development team?
The Estate is working closely with the development team to make sure Michael Jackson – The Game reflects Michael’s unique creative spirit and is of the highest quality that Michael and his fans demand.

What do you believe the game will bring to MJ's loyal fans? Why should they care?
Michael was about finding ways to use new technologies so that his fans could enjoy his artistry and he valued family entertainment. This game brings those things together. His fans will be able to literally step inside Michael’s shoes and reenact his iconic dance moves to the music they love, enjoying it with their friends and families.

How do you see this game continuing MJ's legacy?
It underscores that Michael’s artistry is timeless, appeals across generations and is always on the cutting edge.

What excites you most about this game?
The opportunity to showcase the uniqueness and timelessness of Michael’s artistry in a way that has not been done before and doing so in a way that truly exemplifies the value of family entertainment, something that was very important to Michael.

This game will be the first videogame to give to players the opportunity to actually perform MJ's most famous tracks and dance choreography. Why did you wait for this year to launch such a game? Why not before?
It has to be the right time, both in terms of technology and opportunity. Michael was a perfectionist, and he would have wanted to make sure that if a game like this was released that every dance move was perfected.

How do you see this game fitting in with all of the other MJ-related activities this year?
The Estate is selective about the things it authorizes. They have to be of the highest quality, and have to be in the spirit of what Michael loved and wanted for his fans. That’s what Michael Jackson – The Game is.

Wow. Famous singers would never sing about Palestine. Ever. I don't mean to be political here, but it's a sad, unfortunate thing. Glad Michael wrote something on it. Wonder if he ever intended to record it...

^^ I love "Elizabeth, I love you" and "You Were There" for the sheer fact that they were one off songs, written and performed for a specific purpose and then never again.

I remember watching the special when he did You Were There and must have rewatched it about 10 times that night - just an amazing performance.

I love how just walking up to the mic in silhouette caused excitement.

Thanks for this great post. I always say that as much as I adore Michael as an artist, I love him even more as a person. Someone once told me that he doesn´t understand how someone can cry over a death of a celebrity. I said, well I did cry over Mike´s death so much because Michael wasn´t a celebrity to me, more like a family. If you have never loved any star as a person, you can never feel grief over their death even if you like some of their songs.

And as you say, it´s not true that we didn´t know him. I don´t think that you can claim to know someone just because you have met them. Some people even live with their partners learning about their real selves years later on cause people can pretend and it doesn´t matter if you pretend on tv or real life. Mike has always been honest about who he was that is why I dare to say that I did know him as much as I could from such a distance. I think I know and understand him more than I do some collegues at work and I meet them everyday.

I also love Elizabeth I Love You. I also wish Mike did that type of theatrical things more often. I d love for him to do for example a video for Smile with him dressed as Chaplin. That would have been so cool.

And Bboy, thanks for the lyrics.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Yeah, only Mike could do that. Amazing.

Look at the gorgeous shoulders. biggrin

Yeah it's a genius performance...one of his best.

I just bought the Live in Bucharest dvd, pretty good stuff. People say he only lipsynched, not true. He lip synchs on several songs but is live on some too. The dancing is better than ever with more variety. Well, I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but what I've seen just makes me feel bad for being a neglectful fan, as I've stated several times before. I read that 125million went to charity from this tour, my god, what more would the man have had to do? Be nailed to a damned cross?

[Edited 8/17/10 22:27pm]

The Dangerous Tour is my third favorite tour (Bad being first and Victory being second), but his dancing was more on point during Dangerous.

One interesting thing about the Bucharest show is that it was heavily edited. Some of the shots are from London, Barcelona, Madrid and other places

BBC and HBO got different edits

All the money he got from the tour was given to charity plus he paid for hospitals and orphanages being restructured

Yeah, I think I got the BBC one on VHS, and then the DVD is HBO right?

Wow. Famous singers would never sing about Palestine. Ever. I don't mean to be political here, but it's a sad, unfortunate thing. Glad Michael wrote something on it. Wonder if he ever intended to record it...

[Edited 8/18/10 19:32pm]

Knowing Mike there was probably an intention to release it.

I taped the sammy tribute a long time ago. Always was a Sammy Davis nut and could always spot where Michael took moves and also when he made them his own. You talk about black genius that will never get the proper respect that's Sammy. Back in those days black men had to have the spiritual strength of Samson to withstand the brutal physical and mental abuse and come through like that.

If Prince said microwaves were the new way to make your CD burn, some "fams" would try it. lol
