Very original. I like it.

It's on some Damocles shit, and they are planning a longer version.

I caught that. The picture is deep. The sword of Damocles hangs over Kanye's head even though he has Cherubs protecting him. The woman with the antelope horns could be Satet/Satis, the Egyptian war goddess who protected the Nubian border. She is on both sides of Kanye - which could mean that he is well protected. I suspect that the two warriors in conflict in front of him could represent several things. Since it looks like one is black and one is white, it could symbolize the racial conflicts that go on in this country. It could also represent the battles of warriors (MCs?) taking place in front of him as a fight for his throne. The two cherubs decending from above with daggers are waiting for him to walk through the pilars. That could mean that some of the people who are protecting him are also his enemies, waiting for the chance to strike him ala Judas or Brutus (since the sword of Damacles is going through a halo, which might mean that he considers himself a holy king). I couldn't make out the symbol on the chain around his neck.

Since the sword of Damacles is hanging over his head, Kanye probably represents King Dionysus II in the picture, hence all of the naked women and partying going on. King Dionysus supposedly enjoyed being waited on by servants and fully endulged in a festive lifestyle of a king, like his namesake, the Greek god Dionysus and his Maenads (even though King Dionysus II was rumored to be a tyrant).

This is a bad ass concept. The Greek mythology ties in well with the lyrics of the song. Its a great meld of art, literature and rap. I have to give it up to everybody involved in this one. If he keeps dropping concepts like this, I may actually start to believe he really is a genius.

The god on the chain around his neck in either Ra or Horus...can't tell without the headdress.

My take on it is slightly different though. The imagery taken together with the lyrics suggest to me that Kanye is representing the "one", who is preparing to battle the dark forces. Look at where he is coming from as well as where he is going and look at all the forces trying to stop him as well as the guardians. Note the determined expression on his face. Also, he is the one wearing the Egyptian symbol representing the most high amidst all the Dionysian imagery of the fallen.

The overall effect is quite Dante-esque though, and a pretty decent effort.

hmmm I can see that angle as well. The symbol on his chain didn't look like Horus even though it looked Egyptian; I thought about that the first time. Its possible that the two warriors could have ben springing to attack him. Either way, the fact that we're sitting here discussing the connections between ancient Egytpology, Greco-Roman lore, Dante AND A RAP VIDEO is in and of itself pretty ironic, but in a good way. Kanye and his team did well with this one. Usually, we are talking about some fucked up shit Kanye said or did. This time its about art.

We didn't even speak about the Angel in the chair. hmmm

Ain't that the truth...he sure gave us a lot to chew on with this one...good stuff!

I was leaning more towards Ra since he could have just used the eye for Horus.

With the angel, if I could see the heads on either side of her seat clearly it would be easier to read what she symbolizes.

Hmmm...

Yeah I see more allusions to Damocles myth than anything. Since the sword is hanging over Kayne's head, that would make him Damocles. As the myth goes, Damocles wanted to trade places with Dionysus for a day to experience the beautiful women and great power which Dionysus held within his grasp. In the evening, Damocles was enjoying being waited on hand and foot by beautiful women, until he discovered a sword hanging by a thread above his head. He lost all interest in the power that he possessed.

I found a pic.

Its Horus or something very close (the eyes don't look like the standard eye of Ra pic). I stand corrected.
