David Bowie Reissue: Station To Station Deluxe Edition [img:$uid]http://imgur.com/SIbz2.jpg[/img:$uid]

It took a bit longer than expected, but David Bowie is finally ready to relive his iconic 1976 album Station To Station.
The reissue will be available in two different configurations, both of which will be highlighted by a remastering of the album and a live recording of Bowie’s March 23rd, 1976 concert at the Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York.
The three-disc “Special Edition” version will also include a 16-page booklet with sleevenotes by Cameron Crowe, chronology by Kevin Cann, three period photocards of Bowie in various settings, and a digitial download code.
The digital download will feature the same audio content as the psychical release, but with the added bonus of an unedited alternative mix of “Panic In Detroit” that clocks in at 13:09, according to an issued press release.
The five-disc “Deluxe Edition” version will include all of the above as well as 1985 master of the album, a five-track EP featuring Station to Station single edits, a DVD, copies of both the album and the live recording on 12″ heavyweight vinyl, and facsimile copies of David Bowie’s On Stage 1976 press kit folder and 1976 Fan Club Folder.
Prices for the two releases have not yet been disclosed, but both will hit stores on September 20th via EMI. In the meantime, check out the exact specifics for each configuration below.

so its a live show instead of a bunch of demos, outtakes, alternate versions, b sides and other cool studio stuff that made the other special editions interesting? it's a bit of a let down then

Why do they put the 1985 cdmaster in the box???
However that liveconcert from Nassau Coliseum NY is simply amazing.One of the best Bowie concert I've heard. I have it as a bootleg both on LP and CD but not the complete show. The band he used here,with Dennis Davis on drums and Carlos Alomar on guitar are on fire.

Yes indeed. The version of Stay is just killer.
But I agree with other posters about the 1985 CD version. If you're going to include another disc, why not include demos or true alternate takes? Either way this will definitely be in my collection as well. | |

Space Oddity, Ziggy, Aladdin, Diamond Dogs, and Young Americans have gotten similar treatment, to varying degrees in the last 10 years, although none as extensive as this.
I think the live discs & DVD are because there aren't really any extras they can add. Or at least ones that Bowie is willing to donate, depending on the conflicting reports about Man Who Fell To Earth soundtrack material existing or not. | |

I have avoided his other reissues, as you say this one has gone over the top with extras, Im just salivating at the thought of it. I wonder what the price tag will be, I have been looking to seee if I can pre order it somewhere, but nobody has any information yet.
Would of been nice if he had of thrown in a DVD of the Vacouver rehersals as well, but really cant fault the effort thats gone into this one. My name is Naz!!! and I have a windmill where my brain is supposed to be.....

i'm a fan of nic roeg, and this is one of my all time fave movies. i have about 4 versions of it on dvd, including the excellent criterion version and the anchor bay version with 5.1 dts sound (criterion don't use non original soundtracks so whilst they used the anchor bay transfer they omitted the 5.1 mix!)
one of my other fave nic roeg movies is performance with mick jagger, playing an old pop star. it's from 1968 althought not released until 1970, and has the classic line about mick jaggers charater - "he'll look funny when he's 50", as sampled by big audio dynamite (who also covered 1999 at most shows) on the song e=mc2 from the "this is BAD" album recently reissued as a 2cd legacy edition

I guess thats why I was recommended to watch it
Ellen Burstyn said recently in a documentary, that if filmmakers nowadays instilled 2 minutes of silence in their movies for example, you'll have a tons of record executives having a fit for each minute

my type of flick. Plus, the 70s have always been experimental with their storytelling(which I've always loved).
I hear that, when this re-issue of the re-issue of the re-issue was first pitched, several of the record company execs raised concerns that even the most retarded Bowie fan would eventually think this was a rip-off too far - they needn't have worried.

and of course there are no demos/B-side material here people, cuz Bowie was lucky to get six songs in the late 1975 due to heavy drug addiction and paranoia. Hell, even the title-track and Stay sound like overextended demos and not finished/polished songs...  | |

i would have thought there would at least be some alternate or demo versions of the same songs they could pull out. it's a bit dissapointing to me, as even though i'm not the biggest fan, i already have the live show on bootleg, thanks to having a couple of long time big bowie fans
i'm still not sure what the deal is with the 1985 cd of the album. can anyone explain what the significance of this is, or is there a link that gives more info? | |

I'm a big fan of both these films, they are quite different from each other though. As a massive Bowie fan I saw the Man who fell to earth first, I saw it at the local cinema a few years ago at a rescreening. Can be difficult in places, but overall it has a good look/feel about it.
Performance I saw only a couple of months ago, based on other peoples recommendations. I never cared much for Mick Jagger, but I really enjoyed his performance (sic) in this film. I am so psyched for this. I will get the big package - - must have the vinyl, and the EP of the single edits sounds very cool as well. Wonder if it will include the version of Wild in the Wind that was released in the early 80s, i believe as a promotional single for a compilation. It was a new recording as I recall.
Does anybody know what is so different about the 1985 master that it credits being included? Was it a different mix perhaps?
