That being said, I love his stuff with Guy. He was OK solo but the only songs I really liked from him solo were "Don't Be Afraid" and "I Miss You".

That goes without saying. Hell Guy even admitted way back when they were

fans of the Gap Band. Thus you got Round and Round. lol

I think where most people side with Aaron is that he's right when he talks about Kelly.

Kelly virtually raped Guy's or Aaron Hall style if you prefer with the 12 play album from

the nasty man grind, the shaved head, the clothing, and vocals. Aaron had already done

it on the Guy II album.

That "grind" could be credited to either Prince or Bobby Brown, the shaved head = Isaac Hayes, clothing = anybody; vocals = any R&B artist from 1967 onwards. lol

While Aaron may have points, he wasn't the one who originated it lol it's odd when I was a kid and I first heard Aaron's music I thought it was actually Charlie Wilson. Swear to God I thought I did. I didn't know who Aaron Hall was, I knew the name of his group was Guy. I just assumed he was Charlie's son. lol

While your points are on target to an extent, i think most are talking in terms of the

New Jack era. Guy didn't neccessarily plant the seeds but they fertilized the genre.

Kelly just happened to come behind them and take some of Guy's style with him.

If you didn't have a face or name on the 12 play album it could have easily been

considered a Guy album.

Aaron Hall was the original voice of the New Jack era movement with others to follow

like R.Kelly, Chauncey Hannibal, and Dezo from Basic Black.

The truth of the matter is why shouldn't Aaron Hall talk shit. The others he has talked

about talked shit too about how good they are. Why should he be any different?

To make a long story short i won't be checking for new music by any of these fools anytime

soon. lol It would be nice to see Aaron have a decent comeback but i can't see it.

I just checked Alexander O'Reefer's new album and it's garbage.

Here's the thing. Aaron knows that his style was influenced by people like Issac, Sly and maybe even James. He was a part of one of the hottest groups, in the world. That group made music that caused up all to get up and dance. Why? Because, unlike these wannabe's today, groups like guy could sing, dance and to a degree, play an instrument. He has every right to talk about what today's singers have done to today's music. These FOOLS have destroyed today's music for the sake of a buck and instant gratification and some of us on this page, wanna diss him for speaking out against it? WOW!!

That's how I'm kind of feeling too. Everyday on the org you can find a handful of threads criticizing today's music and rightfully so, but just because Aaron Hall is doing it, he's wrong? SMH. I'd still take Aaron's voice anyday over the shit that is out now....granted he does need to visit a dentist, but still.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Not only that, but he was part of a group that started that, "New Jack Swing", song. I cannot believe people would actually say that he has no reason to express his views on today's music. I peeped that special on BET about, Trey Songz and I could not believe or understand what all the hype about this non-singing fool was all about? Like I said before....WOW!

The thing is I hated R. Kelly when came out with the "Public Announcement" singing "Vibe" which I thought was Aaron. But I heard Aaron sing with Guy on the BET Awards last year doing my favorite song by that group "I Like" and his voice sounded like shit. It sounded just like it did talking in this interview. Dube if you came out with an album now, I wouldn't be interested cause you done lost your voice either to cigarettes or too much pussy juice or something. Here is the one thing that most of you are not getting...Without Aaron, there wouldn't be people like Kelly. Groups like Guy, Intro, and to a certain extent, Jodaci, all paved the way for these new artist. Just like, The Gap Band, Marvin and, Stevie paved the way for them. Seems to me that most of you want to have it both ways. You want to be the one's who diss today's artist, but when an artist from yesteryear says something, you all are ready to defend. Old school groups, have paid far more dues than any artist out their today, this is the main reason why they get my respect. All most of these new fangled artist have ever done is just stand there and look pretty. There is no substance in today's music which is Aaron's point and most of you are going to say he is talking shyt? Would you all say the same, if Marvin, Stevie or Smokey made the same remarks?

I'm not saying that he's talking shit. Some of what he said was true. But what I'm saying is that his voice now sounds like shit and he shouldn't be bragging about his new album coming out. R. Kelly got a jump start to his career from sounding like Aaron in his prime. He then found a formula with slow jams with"You Are Not Aone" which he cloned throughout the 90's. I like a few of his songs but will never be a fan, but ... Aaron needs to take a step back when talking about someone with whom he can't compete with. Aaron has never had a successful solo career. Guy is one of my favorite groups of all time, but ... that was then.

The point that I'm trying to make is this, without Aaron, there would not be an R.Kelly. For me all Kelly is, is a smart business man with good lawyers. R. knows went it's time to write a song from the heart, that will appeal to the "lite FM" and older crowd like, "You saved me" or when it's time to get paid and write something for the hot and sweaty crowd, like "12Play". Otherwise than that, he really really is doing something that Aaron and Charlie, did before him. As for Aaron's voice, I would rather hear that it is HIS voice sounding like shyt, that his voice being processed and pressurized in order for it to sound good. It is not so easy to sing live, especially after a long layoff, so to sound like he did on the BET awards, I will cut him some slack. Who I refuse to cut any slack to is people like Trey, The Dream, or anyone else who claims that they "Invented", something and expect people with sense to think that it is music...

Yea, you can't because R. Kelly never dissed Jay-Z.

Jay-Z was the one fuming over the whole thing and even got one of his bodyguards to pepper spray R. Kelly. Even last year he threw some shade at a show in Chicago.

R. Kelly has never directly dissed any artist or respond to any of them. Just ask Joe, Ginuwine, Birdman, Trey Songz, Aaron Hall, Dr. Dre, etc.

R. Kelly remains unmoved by their attempts to get his attention lol

Reel

Somebody needs to email this clip to Charlie Wilson. Aaron Hall can definitely sing but he was obviously also influenced by the artists before him.

I dig the whole R-Kelly critique on "copying" because shortly after R-Kelly left Public Announcement he fashioned his image after Aaron...hardly any deviation. To the point where I thought he was Aaron for a minute. Oh well.

[Edited 8/4/10 20:21pm]
