You can hear more James here:
Especially near the ending where every other instrument is mute (or played real low) except for him.

Is that his son they looks just alike. "we make our heroes in America only to destroy them"

Yeah, iirc one of his few sons. One son in particular (James Jamerson Jr) is a session-musician as well. I remember him tourung in the late 80's with Chaka Khan.

First let me say that I just realized that I've always been a lover of Mr. Jamerson's bass playing before I actually knew his name. Most of those classic Motown records my older siblings had, that I loved, featured "Igor" on bass.
Here's a question for you guys either old enough to see The J5 live back in the day or have seen live concert footage of the brothers:
Was Jermaine Jackson able to recreate James Jamerson's style when they performed live?

On another note: Is it true that "A Real Bass Player" can make a fo strang sound like 6? I had an old bass player from a church tell me that years ago. What say you? He was saying that these new cats need the extra strings to do what the legends did with four.

I'd say so (and no I'm not old enough to have seen it IN concert but I've listened to alot of his Bass playing) Jermaine is actually a great bassist. Not as good as Jamerson of course, but Jermaine being a fan of James himself was definitely influenced. Shame he's not doing too much with it.

That's very true. The music of Claypool, Johnson, Adams, Ndegeocello, Rhonda, Sheehan, Bootsy, Mosson, Verdine, Duck Dunn, Bruce, Clarke, Graham, Mingus, and Pastorius is a the proof of that lol
