I wouldn't want to see them without Steve Arrington. Even though he didn't join with the group until their 1978 "The Concept" album, most of their most memorable hits were with him as lead vocal, and I don't see any mention of him in the lineup.

I wouldn't pass up the chance to see Drac and Mark if it were a free concert in the park, but I wouldn't purchase tickets to see Slave in concert without Steve Arrington.

They were at BB Kings in NYC a few years back and I actually went down to the club to purchase tickets, until I asked the guy in box office if Steve Arrington was in the lineup. First he hesitated, but when pressed; he admitted that he wasn't, I said "Thank You", and turned and walked away.

I truly can understan wanting to see Steve Arrington. But many groups these days have new members for a variety of reasons. Slave's new lead singer is on point and the band sounds just as good if not better than their former years. Mark Adams is still funky on the bass... You will miss a slammin show!!!

And at least the new singer will be in tune, unlike whiney Steve Arrington.

Yes BassDog is still spankin'. I did an interview with him a month ago. He told the whole story of how Slave hit the big time with their huge hit from 1977 SLIDE. Just teenagers, recorded the song live in the studio one day - next thing they know - HUGE HIT! Mark has new solo material that will be out soon. I was priviledged to hear some of the tracks! Funk is alive and well!

Cool ! Did you publish that interview somewhere online or in a magazine ? Interesting to hear/read that.

Posted another interview sometime on the Org :

Drac & Mark explain and give some good advise about the entertainment-business

Have funkfun tomorrow at the show !

I can understand that his voice is not up your street, but imo that's one of the ingredients which added to the recognisable Slave-sound.
