Yanno, I've been a firm supporter of Deepak especially when Michael Jackson fans were kirking out and dissing him because of his honesty about Michael Jackson after his death. However, there was always a part of me that wondered about his relationship with MJ, in that it seemed like one of peer-to-peer and friendship, opposed to "seeker and teacher". Now when I learned about the whole Deepak officiating the marriage between Swizz and Alicia, I'm starting to think that he's a bit of a "groupie" or "celebrity whore". I hope that I'm wrong because I really respect Deepak.

I don't think this is a beard situation. It's more like Alicia has no class. Britney got with KFed even thoguh Shar was expecting a baby. Sienna Miller went back to Jude Law even though he managed to knock up someone during their breakup.

I'm sure she won't (not that she has to) cuz they've been together for at least 7-8 years and photo'd before. Never like this but Jeanette been on the scene for ages and La still calls her her trainer.

^ yeah for her music fans, friends and family.... but for hollywood, would this possibly hurt her movie image and mainstream movie audiences.

Her recent films she has played leading lady with a romantic interest... (the last one with LL Cool J). Would she be viewed as not convince-able leading lady when these types of pictures are out.

You have a point but was there anyone walking the face of the earth that knows of Latifah that didn't "suspect" that she was a lesbian? I'm just not sure that very many people would be shocked. So perhaps it really doesn't matter.

Precisely. Besides, she's already had several movie roles as lesbians, I don't think anyone cares at this point, it's almost as if we suspected it and we're used to the idea.

those pictures look stage- they knew they were being photographed at that point....

Well, my mom in law who is in her 60's didn't know... and I know if she did know she would NOT watch a movie with Latifah as a leading lady because she just wouldn't buy it.

I know it should not make a difference... and I know it would not if the role was a non leading lady role it would not make a difference.. but if there is a love scene... I don't think she would... I dunno.. she would think it was fake, rather than acting.

I know this doesn't make a lot of sense... I am not making myself clear. Imagine Chasity Bono (pre-surgery) playing a leading lady with a male love interest.

For that matter, Jody Foster... imagine her playing that movie that Angelina Jolie starred in... Mr and Mrs Smith. Jody is a great actress... has won 2 Oscars... but she doesn't play leading ladies. I believe this is not by chance.

I am just saying... this may change the types of opportunities for Latifah as a mainstream hollywood actress. and who knows... maybe the change could be for the better. Jody seems to do a lot better than actresses that were sex symbols and favorite leading lady actresses... (Sharon Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Connely, Kiera Knightley to name a few).

And for the record... making more money in my opinion doesn't mean "doing better or worst". I am talking about commanding a large fee to star in a movie in any given year... being able to open a movie as the only star, and receiving accolades from both fans and peers.

As far as a gay actor doing "straight scenes"....this is why it's called acting. The entertainment industry is full of people who are not heterosexual yet we gobble up the work all the time.

very true... I am sure there are several well known, well loved leading men and women who are truly bi or gay and the audience love them, love their movies....

and I won't go into the actors I am thinking about. not the place to speculate, and it would take too long.

Oh and fI just want to say... that I hope Latifah continues to do well and feelings about her private life does not affect her career.

That is true. I would love to see Latifah in that sort of role. But I would imagine that such a role would be pretty hard on her emotionally. Just like Monique, Latifah was also molested. I would imagine that playing an abuser and/or molester when the actor has personally been molested must be pretty hard on them emotionally. Perhaps it could also be therapeutic.
