Jon B. @ BB Kings Blues Club in NYC

Right now, I'm on vacation in NYC and I had the pleasure of seeing Jon B's live show at the BB Kings Club. I must say that he still sounds very strong and is very much still enormously talented. He gave a high energy show and he has me wanting to check out his latest CD even though he announced that his new album will be released the end of August. He's extremely motivated and its so refreshing to see such a talented artist still carrying on with his craft whether if the music industry "gets" him or not. thumbs up!
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Nice to hear. Did he do old jams? Was there a good crowd?

Was there a live band with him? I got to see him in Omaha a year or so ago. The show was alright, but there was no band, he just sang the songs karaoke-style or on his keyboard. He's still one of the best out there, though!

Good to hear Jon B. has new music to release soon. Heard him a few years ago in a very small setting and talk about Blue Eyed Soul nod nice man signed photographs. Big ups for Jon! clapping I've not tired of any of his music.

nod Yes to both!!! He did a great mix between his old and new songs. I can't complain a bit. He had a live band that was extremely on point. I would definitely go see Jon B. again, no question. And to be honest, I enjoyed Jon's show a whole hell of a lot more than when I saw Robin Thicke last year. Jon wasn't trying to do any silly dancing and shit, he was just himself.

Yes there was a live band and as I stated in my reply above to another orger, the band was definitely on point. If Jon can get a good record deal, he could definitely give Robin a run for his money...seriously, Jon was that good last night. I will most definitely be checking out his new album...its a must. nod

Sounds like a good show. I remember when we were discussing his latest album on here. I actually ended up getting a free copy and it’s not bad. Whenever a song pops into rotation, I’ll think that’s a nice song and when I check the info it’s something from Helpless Romantic. But hate the album cover.

Yeah I'll have to agree, that album cover is quite cheesy & hideous. I think his sexiest album cover was "Cool Relax".

Yeah that’s a good one altho it gets a bit long for my tastes but it’s a good chill album.

The title track, Are You Still Down?, Don’t Listen To, They Say, Whatcha Say Boo… Hard to believe that album is over a decade old!

One of my fave tracks—aside from Don’t Talk—is Finer Things with Nas. That is an ultimate groove track right there.

Oh, it's a nice lead into the cut right after that, Get What You Want. For some reason that song makes me thing of MJ.

I need to take a listen to "helpless romantic" again as it really didnt grab me on my initial listening.

I have always been a great fan of his music (the Jack herrera project is outstanding) "pleasures u like" is my favourite album of his.

I look forward to hearing the new stuff smile

Life has a way of making you live it. . . .

Interesting. I saw him in 2008 when he opened for Mint Condition and he was

doing the silly dancing. lol Other than that his show was pretty nice.

I only know You Don't Know and Don't Talk by name. Don't Talk is the jam.

Well maybe somebody was smart enough to let Jon know that his silly dancing wasn't needed during his performances and he was smart enough to let that mess go. But he didn't do any dancing at all, just performing. He was very energetic and his voice was very strong.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
