thanks for the info!
I've been listening to The ArchAndroid and I'm absolutely loving "Locked Inside", "Mushrooms & Roses", "Wondaland". Her love songs are hitting as well. Janelle is the one to watch. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I definitely think she has a VERY BRIGHT future too.
One of the most talented artists to come around in a long while.

Since when has running around like a spaz been dancing?

Honestly, I don't see what's so special about her "dancing" either. The first time I saw her, I thought, "She's trying to be like James Brown. That's so played out." Then I didn't give it much thought, until I watched the BET Awards and she was doing that same stuff for the Prince tribute. The only thing I could say is that it looked like, "Let's Go Crazy".
I don't dislike her, but I doubt I'll ever be into her music. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Hey, it's worked for Prince all these years.

That's one of the reasons why I say she's more like Prince. JB's dancing was tight/very controlled. Prince's dancing was very erractic/all over the place at first, much like Janelle's now. yeah... she definitely lacks self-identity.....

I'm going to get her album tomorrow to hear the hype , I better not be disappointed [Edited 8/2/10 18:39pm]

So I guess the question is: "Since when has running around like a spaz been original?"

I'm there with yall. I appreciate that she's got her own style and is not half nakked like most of these chicks on the radio and whatever, but it takes EPICness for me to be jumping all in your chooch space, buying your records and seeing you on tour/live and whatnot, and I'm not there with her yet. I'm still waiting for EPIC. Prince esta muerto...

*Late Pass*
Just took the time to finally listen to "TA". After being blown away by her ambitious direction, I can't help but acknowledge that she wears her influences on her well starched, buttoned-down tuxedo sleeve. But I won't hold it against her
I love its boldness in the face of today's over processed fast food we call popular music. As others have mentioned I'm sure, when in certain modes her vocal style is very much drenched in Lauryn Hill's honeyed soul. Most notably in "Oh, Maker" I immediately hear similiarities to "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" vocals when the pre-chorus came in. Even the groove of "Neon Valley Street" brings Lauryn's "Ex-Factor" to mind, down to the guitar solo at the end reminded me of Santana's glorious finishing touches to Factor.
Where she may borrow riffs or a groove from Ms. Hill her biggest bank for withdrawl are from the Bank of "The Bull" or Mr. Stevland Morris. Especially in the melody department. Whether its the pre-chorus of "Locked Inside" borrowing from Stevie's "Golden Lady" or the blissful, "Say You'll Go" taking its cues from "Rocket Love." At least she gives honor where it is due. Unlike a many artist who once established, they suddenly forget those long nights at home, in the mirror emulating their favorite artists or rocking out in their parent's garage with a makeshift band in tow.
Nevertheless, I think I'm in love. At least she pays homage respectively. I see why Big Boi and Puff had to be apart of her career. If I was in their position, I'd want to support this artist on the rise too. Good luck guys. Hopefully she stays true to herself through it all.
BTW Org what songs do you see being singles? (No this is not a trick question) [Edited 8/4/10 8:03am]

Well Cold War is the next single so thats what will be next...
interesting note is she said they will be making a video for every single song on the album.
But as far as what i see as "singles I see "Locked Inside", "Faster", and "Wondaland" as being the best singles of the bat. But of course if she gets bigger i think songs like "Dance or Die", "Oh Maker", "Neon Valley Street" and maybe even "Mushrooms & Roses" '. Would work as singles.

Honestly, other than "Tightrope" I don't hear any singles on the album. That's not to say that I don't like the album, I do, but as far as singles go there's not really anything that jumps out at me.
